Windows NT 3.51 does not by default support Zip drives and the copies of ioware provided by iomega do not support Windows NT 3.51. This document provides a very brief overview of installing the Windows NT 3.51 drivers. These instructions are for the parallel port version but they should work for others too.
Installation
- Plug in the parallel port zip drive but Do Not insert a disk in the drive.
- Download iomgnt15.exe (Iomega tools for Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 version 1.5, 3.3MB) to the computer
- Run the program and choose "Setup" to extract the installer and run it
- The setup program will extract the parallel port SCSI drivers and then ask you to install them. It should bring up the SCSI Control Panel Applet where you can choose to install additional drivers. Install the Iomega parallel port SCSI driver and restart the computer.
- After restarting the computer, run the setup program a second time. If it asks you to install SCSI drivers just ignore it and close the SCSI control panel applet if it comes up. Proceed through the installer to install the rest of the software.
Notes
If there is a Zip disk in the drive during startup, Windows NT will attempt to run checkdisk on it which can take some time.
If you do not have the Zip drive attached when the computer boots a service start failure message will be displayed when you login.
