This document contains some examples for backing up the system disk.

To tape, OpenVMS Alpha

Boot from the OpenVMS Alpha install CD, choose option 8 (Execute DCL commands and procedures), then run the following

initialize mkb100: label
mount/override=id dka0
mount/foreign mkb100
backup/image/verify dka0: mkb100:filename.bck/save_set/rewind

where dka0 is the system disk and mkb100 is the tape drive
