small-u-underside

It is not flat like the drums in the thermo-hygrographs and meteorograph. I do not know what this sort of drum goes in. This one has both gears installed so they don't get lost. They are different from the gears on the flat-bottom drums. The gears are incompatible with the instruments that use flatbottom drums. The OTA rain gauge appears to take a shorter version of this type of drum. Despite being too tall, the rain gauge is the only instrument I have that will accept the gears on the bottom of these drums.
