Contents: 1. VERSION INFORMATION 2. KNOWN BUGS 3. LIMITATIONS 4. BUG FIXES AND NEW FEATURES *********************** * VERSION INFORMATION * *********************** To determine the version number of an existing driver, highlight the filename using the file manager (usually \winnt35\system32\drivers\ dglpa.sys or \winnt40\...) and use the File->Properties... pull down menu. Read the readme.txt file to learn how to get the latest version. ************** * KNOWN BUGS * ************** The ATMworks 351 driver may not reconnect to the switch if the switch is re-booted while the driver is running. Version 1.01 of the WEB Management tool should be used to view the Uni Version field. If the version following a switch re-boot differs from the initial version, then it is necessary to do one of the following for the ATMworks 351 to re-connect to the switch: 1. Pull the cable from the adapter, wait 10 seconds, plug back in. Check the Uni Version, if it now matches the initial version, then the adapter should be operational. 2. If the adapter fails to recover following (1.), then it is necessary to re-boot the machine. The adapter should be operational now. *************** * LIMITATIONS * *************** It is recommended that the number of receive and transmit buffers for Alpha systems never exceed 16. Too many requested buffers could result in the system hanging under Windows NT 4.0. Systems running NT 4.0 are currently limited to one LEC per ATMworks 351. The ATMworks 351 driver and the ATMworks 351 diagnostics cannot co-exist. A clip server must be the only instance on a particular ATMworks 351. However, it may be configured as both a server and a client. ****************************** * BUG FIXES AND NEW FEATURES * ****************************** For Version 1.01 The ATMworks 351 can, and should, be managed by version 1.01 of the WEB Management for the ATMworks 351, also available at the web site. A receive buffer problem causing performance degradation, prior to a system hang was resolved. The ATMworks 351 can recover when the link is pulled. It is no longer necessary to manually disable Flowmaster for point-to-point PVC's. The interrupt holdoff and timeout counters are now used by the driver with default values. It is possible to modify the values via Web Management. When optimally tuned, this may have a significant affect on the CPU utilization. Multiple LEC's on one physical adapter under NT 3.51 is possible. For Version 1.0 This is the initial release. =========================== TRADEMARKS DEC, DIGITAL, and DECpc are trademarks of Digital Equipment Corporation.
