New Features

This new version of the software includes many advanced Telesavings features, such as:

• Frame Relay Switched Virtual Circuits: Establishes a Frame Relay circuit only when there is data to send or receive, saving on the cost of permanent circuits
• Frame Relay over ISDN and Dial-Up Lines: Switched access to Frame Relay saves on service installation charges and leased line costs
• Budget Controls: Prevents surprise bills by setting a budget for the router as a whole or each circuit
• Call Blocking: Controls "out of hour" calls
• Initial Minimum Call Timer: Closes idle dial circuits after the pre-paid connection time is used
• Call Back: Enforces security and centralizes billing for volume discounts
• Telesavings Monitor: Graphically controls budget settings and gauges the effects of Telesavings
• Router Configurator: Quickly configures ISDN, Frame Relay, Telesavings, and other features
• Trace Facility for ISDN, Frame Relay, and X.25: Graphically troubleshoots network problems

Availability

The Distributed Routing Software V3.0 will start shipping on all existing RouteAbout products during March 1998. Upgrade kits will be available for existing customers through distribution partners and from our customer and partner web sites.
