The TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS software product is the OpenVMS implementation of the industry-standard TCP/IP protocol suite and Internet services for OpenVMS I64 and OpenVMS Alpha systems. For a complete description of this product, see the HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Version 5.5 Software Product Description (SPD 46.46.19). Features The TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS software is based on the Berke- ley Software Distribution (BSD) Versions 4.3 and 4.4, with enhancements from HP. This release of TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS features the follow- ing enhancements: o New platform support. TCP/IP Services supports the OpenVMS I64 platform as well as the OpenVMS Alpha platform. o The failSAFE IP service supports IPv6. o The IMAP mail service supports SSL (Secure IMAP). o IPv6 enhancements to neighbor discovery and improved IPv6 APIs. o The libpcap API is supported. o NTP has been upgraded to Version 4.2 and supports IPv6. o SSH2 has been upgraded to Version 3.2 and supports IPv6. o TCPDUMP has been upgraded to Version 3.8.3. o The supplied header files for network applications have been updated. Release Notes The TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Release Notes describe the new features of the release in more detail, as well as the reported problems that have been fixed and the limitations of this re- lease. The release notes are located on the distribution media in the same directory as the software kits. For instructions about how to extract the release notes, refer to the TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Installation and Configuration manual. Licenses For Alpha systems, the following TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS licenses are available: o The server license provides complete product functionality. o The client license provides a subset of the server license product functionality. The client license does not include BIND, BOOTP, DHCP, failSAFE IP, TFTP, NFS server, PC-NFS, and the load broker. o The client upgrade license provides a subset of the server license for customers who previously purchased a client license and now require full functionality.
