RELEASE NOTES for the OpenView Performance Agent (OVPA) for OpenVMS ==================================================================== Restrictions ------------ This version of OVPA for OpenVMS has been tested with the OpenView Performance Manager (OVPM) Version 5.00 and Version 6.00. It works with OVPM Version 4, but HP does not recommend using OVPM Version 4 with this verson of OVPA. The following OVPM display fields are not supported on OpenVMS at this time: - Disk ID is a unique ID on UNIX. Device name is a unique ID on OpenVMS and can be used in place of Disk ID. The Disk ID display shows up blank. - INODE is not applicable to OpenVMS. HP is investigating an alternative metric. Documentation Notes ------------------- - If you have installed TDC clusterwide, the OVPA installation might not have seen it. You must install TDC on EACH node that you install OVPA on. - Many of the documents delivered with this version of OVPA for OpenVMS were written for Linux; however, they can be used for OpenVMS. - Prior to installing an update to the TDC software from the TDC web site, shut down OVPA (@sys$startup:ovpa$shutdown). Failure to do so prevents the newly-installed TDC software from running correctly. The TDC installation installs an updated version of the TDC execlet image into SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES, and the newly-installed TDC software attempts to load the updated execlet when it starts a collection. That attempt is blocked because the previous version of the execlet image is still in use. The TDC collection operation continues; however, TDC is unable to gather most process- and disk-I/O metrics.
