      Read Before Installing or Using HP COBOL Version 3.0 for OpenVMS
      Integrity servers

      Dear Customer,

      Please take a moment to read the following information about HP
      COBOL Version 3.0 for OpenVMS Integrity servers.

      License Management Facility (LMF) Information

      Before you can install HP COBOL, an LMF Product Authorization
      Key (PAK) must be registered and loaded (see the HP COBOL In-
      stallation Guide).

      Installation Information

      Installing HP COBOL requires OpenVMS Integrity servers Version
      8.2-1 or higher.

      The distribution media contains the installation kit, the HP
      COBOL Installation Guide, the Software Product Description
      (SPD), and the Release Notes in ASCII and PostScript form.
      The COBOL kit is on the HP OpenVMS Integrity servers Layered
      Products Library DVD.

      A variety of service and support options are available from HP.
      For more information, contact your local HP sales office.

      Release Notes Information

      The Release Notes for HP COBOL Version 3.0 contain a summary of:

      o  Known problems, restrictions, and problems corrected

      o  RTL notes

      o  Debugger notes

      To read the Release Notes before installing HP COBOL, use the
      following DCL command to extract them into a file:

         $ PRODUCT EXTRACT RELEASE_NOTES COBOL/FILE=SYS$HELP:COBOL030.RELEASE_NOTES-
         _$/SOURCE=device:[directory]

      This command will extract the Release Notes into SYS$HELP.

      The instructions for the installation will be found in the
      Installation Guide. After you install HP COBOL, the Release
      Notes will be located in:

         SYS$HELP:COBOL30.RELEASE_NOTES

 



      Documentation

      Documentation for HP COBOL is on the Online Documentation Li-
      brary (ODL) in .pdf format. It consists of the following docu-
      ments:

      o  HP COBOL Reference Manual

      o  HP COBOL User Manual

      o  HP COBOL Installation Guide (updated for Version 2.9)

      o  HP COBOL DBMS Database Programming Manual

      In support of HPs Green Business Technology Initiative and move
      towards electronic delivery, OpenVMS is restricting future
      updates of printed manuals to major product updates. Updated
      documentation for this release of "HP COBOL for OpenVMS" is de-
      livered within the product release notes. The release notes are
      included with the current manuals on the Online Documentation
      Library CD-ROM and are also included in the "COBOL" directory on
      the Product Library media. Current printed manuals are unchanged
      and appropriate for use with this product update.
