Read Before Installing or Using HP GKS Version 7.2 for OpenVMS
Integrity Systems

Whether you are a new or existing HP GKS customer, please take
time to read the following information about your product.

Installation Information

Installing HP GKS Version 7.2 requires the OpenVMS Integrity
servers Version 8.2-1 or higher, and DECwindows Motif Version
1.5 or higher for OpenVMS Integrity servers.
The OpenVMS Integrity servers Layered Products media consists of
the following:

o  Software Product Library CD-ROMs containing the installa-
   tion kits and related documentation in ASCII and PostScript
   formats.

o  Online Documentation Library CD-ROMs containing documentation
   files in PDF format.

The main HP GKS directory is [GKS072] for the development kit
and [GKSRT072] for the run-time-only kit. The files available on
this CD-ROM are:

   Development Kit

      HP-I64VMS-GKS-V0702--1.PCSI$COMPRESSED

Release Notes Information

The release notes for HP GKS Version 7.2 contains installation
related instructions and a summary of technical changes, known
problems, restrictions, and incompatibilities. After HP GKS
installation, the release notes are located in the files:

   SYS$HELP:HPI64GKS072.RELEASE_NOTES     (ASCII format)
   SYS$HELP:HPI64GKS072_RELEASE_NOTES.PS  (PostScript format)

License Management Facility (LMF) Information

Before you can install HP GKS, you must register and load a
Product Authorization Key (PAK), using the License Management
Facility (LMF).

 

HP GKS Documentation

HP GKS documents are provided as PDF files on the Online Doc-
umentation Library CD-ROM. Online HP GKS documentation kits
include the following manuals:

o  DEC GKS User's Guide

o  DEC GKS C Binding Reference Manual

o  DEC GKS FORTRAN Binding Reference Manual

o  DEC GKS GKS$ Binding Reference Manual

o  DEC GKS GKS3D$ Binding Reference Manual

o  Device Specifics Reference Manual for DEC GKS and DEC PHIGS

In support of HP's Green Business Technology Initiative and
move towards electronic delivery, OpenVMS is restricting future
updates of printed manuals to major product updates. Updated
documentation for this release of HP GKS is delivered within the
product release notes. The release notes are included in the GKS
directory on the Product Library media. Current printed manuals
are unchanged and appropriate for use with this product update.

documentation for display or web download from the following

Software Product Description (SPD)

The SPD provides an overview of the HP GKS kit and its features,
and describes the technical environment in which the product is
supported. This document is available online.

Product Name Change

With Version 6.2 of this product, DIGITAL changed the product
name from DEC GKS to DIGITAL GKS. On porting the product to the
Integrity platform, HP changed the name to HP GKS.
