Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusiness Read Before Installing Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusiness V5.1 is an upgrade of Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusiness V5.0, and of the software previously available as Compaq X.500 Directory Service Version 4.0 and earlier versions. Read the Release Notes before installing this kit. Prerequisite Software Before you install the Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusi- ness V5.1, ensure that you have the following installed and work- ing: o Tru64 UNIX[TM] V4.0F or G, or V5.0A or later. o DECnet[TM]-Plus V4.0C for Tru64 UNIX, or later. The installation requires the DNANETMAN subset, and the DNABASE and/or DNAKBIN subsets, depending on whether you want to use OSI and/or TCP/IP transport services. Upgrading from a Previous Version of the Directory On Tru64 UNIX , Version 3.0 and later of the Directory, the DSA uses memory image files instead of snapshot files. Memory image files are specific to the version of the kit. This applies to all versions (SSB, ECO kits, and FT kits). Therefore, your cur- rent memory image files cannot be used by this kit. To use your existing database with this kit, create a snapshot file of your database before you upgrade. To create a snapshot file, disable and delete the DSA using the following NCL commands: ncl> disable dsa ncl> delete dsa to snapshot After installing this release, use the following NCL commands to recreate the DSA: ncl> create dsa from snapshot ncl> enable dsa When the DSA has been recreated and enabled successfully, you can delete the snapshot file from the DSA system as follows: # rm /var/dxd/DSA-information-tree.snapshot* The DSA does not need this file any longer, so you can save disk space by deleting it. Do not delete any of the other database files. Each of the above files is renamed by appending .savn to the file name. For example, create_inbound_clns_template.ncl becomes cre- ate_inbound_clns_template.ncl.sav1. If any of the schema files from a previous installation have been edited, the deinstallation saves all schema files to a subdirec- tory called /var/dxd/savn where n is a number. The schema data file dxd_schema.dat is also saved to that directory. New Functions in This Release This release includes a Windows[TM] client that helps manage the Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusiness from a PC - Compaq Administrator for Enterprise Directory. To support Compaq Admin- istrator for Enterprise Directory, these new functions have been added: o The LDAP support now includes the Critical Extension ManageD- SAIT o There is support for an "approximate match" when comparing attributes that have a syntax of bitstring. An approximate match is true if all the bits set in the assertion are also set in the value, and false if any of the bits set in the assertion is not set in the value. For example, the following would be considered matches: '1000'b would match '101100001'b '101'b would match '1111111'b The following would not be considered matches: '1000'b would not match '0100110110'b '101'b would not match '1101110'b Note that bit 0 is the left-most bit. Possible Installation Error on Tru64 UNIX V5 If the following server installation error occurs on Tru64 UNIX V5 and there is no DSA database on the machine, then unset the environment variable LANG. The LANG environment variable can be reset after the server subset has been installed. Enterprise Directory Server :- Checking for previous DSA database Enterprise Directory Server :- No valid DSA database found or error occurred - cannot continue setld: Installation declined by subset control program (PRE_L). "Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory Server Version V5.1-7" (DXDASRVR510) will not be loaded. Configuration Tutorials Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of Tru64 UNIX Enterprise Directory for eBusiness - Management provide configuration tutorials.
