           Dear Disk File Optimizer (DFO) customer:

           Thank you for your recent purchase of Disk File Optimizer (DFO)
           V2.4 for OpenVMS. DFO operates in a mixed OpenVMS cluster envi-
           ronment. The kit you have just received includes the VAX and Alpha
           versions of Disk File Optimizer Version 2.4 OpenVMS.

           The Year 2000 compliant version of DFO V2.4 is supported on VAX
           platforms by OpenVMS V5.5-2, V6.2 and V7.1. On Alpha platforms,
           the Year 2000 compliant version of DFO V2.4 is supported by Open-
           VMS V6.2 and V7.1. DFO is also currently being qualified on Open-
           VMS V7.2. Please refer to the DFO Software Product Description
           (SPD 55.85.xx) for the latest list of supported operating systems.

           Through customer feedback and continuous improvements, the Disk
           File Optimizer software gets better all the time. Disk File Op-
           timizer for OpenVMS Version 2.4 has the following changes over
           Version 2.3:

           o  Enhancements were made to the DECwindows interface.

           o  DFO Help now recognizes Logical Names in its messages.

           o  The /OUTPUT qualifier can now be used to direct the output of a
              SHOW command to a file.

           o  Several other reported software problems were fixed.

           Please refer to the release notes for more details.

           This version of DFO has been compiled with the DEC C compiler and
           therefore requires the DEC C/C++ runtime kit, if you are running
           OpenVMS V6.0 or below. The runtime kit is supplied with the DFO
           kit. Because installing this kit may modify your C program de-
           velopment environment, please read the DFO Installation Guide
           carefully. This kit is not needed for OpenVMS V6.1 or later.
