DIGITAL MAILbus 400 Message Store Installing on a Digital UNIX System Revision/Update Information: Version 1.2 This card contains the information you need to install the MAILbus 400 Message Store on a Digital UNIX system. Order Number: AV-Q75CC-TE Installation Prerequisites Before you install the MAILbus 400[TM] Message Store, do the following: o Ensure the software listed below is installed on your system: - Digital[TM] UNIX[R] Version 3.2 or later, or Digital UNIX Version 4.0 or later. - DECnet[TM]/OSI[R] for Digital UNIX Version 3.2A or later, or DECnet/OSI for Digital UNIX Version 4.0 or later, including the DNANETMAN subset. If you intend to use the DECnet/OSI Transport Service, you will also need the DNABASE and DNADLI subsets. If you intend to use the TCP/IP Transport Service, you will also need the DNARFC1006 subset. o Back up your system disk. o Register a valid Message Store license, MB400-MSG-STORE or MB400-MSG-STORE-USER. Use the Digital UNIX License Management Facility (LMF) to do this; see the Digital UNIX Guide to Software Licensing. o Deinstall any MAILbus 400 Message Store subsets already installed on your system, as follows: # setld -d XMSANETMAN1?? XMSASRVR1?? where 1?? indicates the version number of the subsets that are already installed. If you do not know the version of the subsets that are already installed, type the following command from a superuser account: # setld -i | grep -i XMS Information Required To install the MAILbus 400 Message Store, you need the following information: o The device name for the drive where the CD-ROM will be mounted. 2 o If you are installing the MAILbus 400 Message Store from a Remote Installation Services (RIS) server area, the name of the RIS server area. Time Required It takes approximately 5 minutes to install all MAILbus 400 Message Store subsets. When your Message Store is operational, you can use the Message Store Database Management Utility (XMSDMU) to change where the Message Store's database is stored. See MAILbus 400 Message Store Managing for information about XMSDMU. Installing the MAILbus 400 Message Store 1. Log in with superuser privileges and make sure you are in the root directory. For a RIS installation, continue at step 3. 2. Mount the CD-ROM, using the device name as follows: # mount -r -d /dev/device-name /mnt 3 3. Load the subsets as follows: o For CD-ROM: # setld -l /mnt/XMSA120/kit o For RIS, using the name of the RIS server area: # setld -l ris-area The installation procedure starts and prompts you to specify the subsets that you want to install. To specify more than one of the options offered, enter the number associated with each option, with a space between each number. Installing Subsets for the Message Store On every node where you want to run one or more Message Stores, select the options to install the following subsets: MAILbus 400 Message Store Mgt and MAILbus 400 Message Store Server. Installing Subsets for Remote Management On every node from where you want to manage Message Stores remotely, select the option to install the MAILbus 400 Message Store Mgt subset. Before you continue and set up each MAILbus 400 Message Store, make sure that the MAILbus 400 MTA, Version 1.4A, is installed and set up, either on the Message Store's node, or on a remote node that you want the Message Store to connect to.
