This kit may be applied to systems running the following version(s) of OpenVMS: o OpenVMS VAX 7.3 o OpenVMS Alpha 7.3 and 7.3-1 (Note: Please check with Services for Prior Version support contracts on any other VMS versions) This kit automatically installs the correct images for your type of system (VAX or Alpha). Please refer to the release notes for required OS and patch kits for OpenVMS. Problem Descriptions: --------------------- The following problems corrected in V2.7-1 are bug-fixes rather than new functionality: 1. DFO process is aborting on encountering SS$_DATACHECK and some times ACCVIO is also occurring. This problem was seen on data check operations on Read and Write operations enabled volumes. This problem was reported in IPMT CFS.93060 and fixed in this release. 2. The scripts are not processed properly if they are chained (Linked) i.e. DFO V2.7 Scheduler is not starting the successor script(s) even after successful completion of Predecessor script(s). This problem was reported in IPMT CFS.98287 and fixed in this release. 3. Problem with defragmenting ODS-5 formatted disks. DFO was not selecting some files for defragmentation, though they fit into the criterion set to become candidates for defragmentation. This problem was first seen on Open VMS 7.3-1. But this fix applies to all OS versions supporting ODS-5 formatted disks. This problem was reported in IMPT CFS.96333 and fixed in this release. 4. DFO V2.7 Scheduler is not sending the mails after successful completion of Defrag engine process. The mail is being sent after starting the next defrag engine process. This problem was reported in CFS.98394 and fixed in this release. For details refer to the DFGE01027 Release Notes. Installation Instructions: Invoke the VMSINSTAL procedure using the following command: @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL saveset-name device-name OPTIONS N Where: saveset-name is the installation name for the component. For the Disk File Optimizer, use the following: DFGE01027 device-name is the name of the device on which you plan to mount the media, for example, MUA0:. It is not necessary to use the console drive for this installation. However, if you use the console drive, replace any media you remove when the installation is complete. OPTIONS N indicates you want to see the release notes. If you do not include this parameter, VMSINSTAL does not ask you about the release notes. Review the release notes before proceeding with the installation as they could contain additional installation information.
