The DIGITAL SNA Peer Server product supports the DIGITAL UNIX Version 4.0 operating system and its associated License Manage- ment facility (LMF) requirements. Features The DIGITAL SNA Peer Server software links TCP/IP and DECnet users to the SNA environment. In the SNA environment, the Peer Server connects to SNA nodes over: o SDLC-Synchronous Data Link Control o QLLC-Qualified Logical Link Control (requires X.25 for DIGI- TAL UNIX) o LLC2-Logical Link Control type 2 (supports Ethernet, token ring, and FDDI) Both wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) access are supported. As a type 2.1 device, the Peer Server provides primary and secondary access to the SNA network, including support for multiple concurrent sessions using a given logical unit (LU). Support for LU6.2 protocols allows implementation of parallel sessions. Peer Server features include: o Implemented as an application running on DIGITAL UNIX Alpha system. o Multiprotocol support (TCP/IP and DECnet). o Backward compatibility with most DIGITAL SNA access routines and applications. o Support for SNA node type 2.1 protocols o Connections into an SNA Advanced Peer-to-Peer network (APPN). o Support for LU6.2 protocols. o Support for SNA node type 2.0 protocols for use in tradi- tional hierarchical networks. o Includes a TN3270 server that allows TN3270 clients to access IBM applications as SNA terminals; TCP/IP is not required on the mainframe.
