Multimedia Services Version V2.2 for Digital UNIX brings audio and video
capabilities to Digital's workstations, and provides a full programming
library for use by developers of new multimedia applications. This products
also provides support for the built-in audio and optional audio/video
hardware on AlphaStations along with a number of useful end user
applications

Other Digital related offerings in the area of speech technology included
Digital Speech Recognition Software, an English language based command and
control speech recognition environment that integrates speech recognition
capabilities with an AlphaStation and Dectalk, which allows applications to
convert standard ASCII text in American English to highly intelligible and
natural sounding speech.
