Compaq FUSE Version 4.2 for Compaq Tru64 UNIX Systems: Read This First Important: Save this document with your product authorization keys (PAKs). Thanks for purchasing a license for Compaq FUSE Version 4.2 for Compaq Tru64TM UNIXR systems. This document provides important information that you need now and possibly later should you purchase an optional Compaq FUSE product such as the Com- paq FUSE Support for C++. Please save it with your Product Authorization Keys (PAKs). Operating System Versions Compaq FUSE V4.2 runs only on systems that are running Tru64 UNIX Versions 4.0 and higher. A Note on Product Installation When you install Compaq FUSE Version 4.2 for Tru64 UNIX Systems, you are actually installing two products: Compaq FUSE and Compaq FUSE Support for C++. If your license is only for Compaq FUSE, you received a Product Authorization Key (PAK) which, when registered with the License Management Facility (LMF), allows you to use Compaq FUSE. Even though Compaq FUSE Support for C++ is installed, you cannot access it. To use the C++ Support, you must purchase the license and register the PAK with LMF. Once the PAK is registered, you can use the C++ Support immediately. No additional installation procedure is required. Product Description For a brief product description, along with hardware and software configuration infor- mation, review the Compaq FUSE Software Product Description (44.71.09) available on the Consolidated Distribution (CD) in the fus420/documentation directory. Release Notes Information The Release Notes are available on the CD in the fus420/documentation directory. If your current purchase was only for Compaq FUSE and you purchase Compaq FUSE Support for C++ at a later date, you will need to refer to the Release Notes at that time. The Release Notes contain important installation-related instructions, known problems, documentation errors, restrictions, and other important information. Take the time to review them before you install the product. User Documentation for All Compaq FUSE Products Documentation for Compaq FUSE V4.2 covers the optional Compaq FUSE Support for C++. Documentation for FUSE can be ordered separately or as part of a kit that includes both media and documentation. Refer to the SPD for ordering information. Important Note: The main FUSE manuals - DEC FUSE Handbook and DEC FUSE EnCASE Manual - were not updated to reflect the latest product name and version num- ber. The online Help system was also not updated. The contents remains valid. Contents of This Kit Bill Report (BIL) and Bill of Materials (BOM): Read the BIL and BOM enclosed in this kit and check to see that all items listed are actually in your kit. If your kit is dam- aged or any items are missing, call your Compaq representative. Media: If you ordered media, you will find the media and the installation instructions (Installation Instructions: Compaq FUSE Version 4.2) in this kit. Like the Release Notes, the Installation Instructions cover the optional Compaq FUSE Support for C++. Documentation: Depending on your order, the kit includes these printed documents: o Installation Instructions: Compaq FUSE Version 4.2 o DEC FUSE Handbook The following HTML documents for FUSE V4.2 are available on the Tru64 UNIX Online Documentation Library (ODL) CD-ROM in the Programming Tools and Lan- guages category: DEC FUSE Handbook, Compaq FUSE Installation Instructions, Compaq FUSE Release Notes, and DEC FUSE EnCASE Manual. The EnCASE Manual is for anyone interested in incorporating some of their own tools into the FUSE environ- ment. Refer to the Ladebug Debugger Manual for detailed information about the Debugger integrated with the FUSE environment. This manual is not included with the FUSE documentation, but is available on the Online Documentation Library CD-ROM. Software Performance Report: If you have purchased warranty services, use this form to report any problems with FUSE Version 4.2. Software Survey Update Card: Complete this card and return it after you install FUSE Version 4.2. Your feedback to Compaq on installation quality is vital.
