Hewlett-Packard Read Before Installing or Using HP Fortran Version 8.0 for OpenVMS Industry Standard 64 Systems This letter explains the Version 8.0 release of HP Fortran for OpenVMS I64 systems. Installation Information For installation information, see the HP Fortran for OpenVMS I64 Systems Installation Guide in your kit. Release Notes The HP Fortran release notes contain a summary of new fea- tures, known problems, restrictions, incompatibilities, and installation-related instructions. To read the release notes before installing HP Fortran, follow the instructions in the HP Fortran for OpenVMS I64 Systems Installation Guide. F77-Only Compiler Not Part of HP Fortran The products formerly called Compaq Fortran 77 and DIGITAL Fortran 77 are not part of HP Fortran for OpenVMS I64 systems. This means that the /OLD_F77 command-line qualifier is not valid on OpenVMS I64 systems. If you are planning on converting from Compaq Fortran 77 to HP Fortran 90 on OpenVMS I64 systems, we strongly recommend that you perform the conversion in two stages: first converting from Compaq Fortran 77 to HP Fortran 90 on OpenVMS Alpha, and only then converting from HP Fortran 90 on OpenVMS Alpha to HP Fortran 90 on OpenVMS I64. This will help isolate the cause of any potential migration issues, should they arise. See Appendix B in the HP Fortran for OpenVMS User Manual for more information. Differences Between HP Fortran on OpenVMS I64 and OpenVMS Alpha Systems See Appendix A in the HP Fortran for OpenVMS User Manual.
