           Before You Install VAXft System Services Software

           Before you install your VAXft[TM] System Services Version 2.0
           software, please read the online Release Notes you received with
           the product. This version of VAXft System Services is compatible
           with the following:

           o  OpenVMS VAX Versions 5.5-2 and 6.0 on VAXft Models 110, 410,
              610, and 612, and

           o  OpenVMS Version 5.5-2HF on the VAXft Model 810

           VAXft System Services Release Notes

           Release Notes are available on the software medium as an ASCII
           text file, and can be printed or displayed. To view the file
           FTSS020.Release_Notes, use the OPTIONS N qualifier during your
           installation, as shown in the VAXft System Services Installation
           Guide. During installation, the file is copied to the HELP direc-
           tory on your VAXft system. The software kit also contains a copy
           of this customer letter, and a copy of the installation guide.

           VMS Installation

                                           NOTE

              You must install the VMS operating system and VMS Volume
              Shadowing before you install VAXft System Services software.

           The VMS Upgrade and Installation Supplement: VAXft Systems that
           you received with your VAXft system VMS kit should be kept with
           the VMS documentation set.

           Software Documentation Kit Contents

           This kit contains three manuals. They include:

           o  VAXft System Service Reference Manual. This manual contains the
              following information:

              -  DCL commands

              -  Failover Set Manager

              -  FTSS$CONTROL commands

              -  VAXft System Services error messages

              -  Master index for both hardware and software documentation

              describes configurations for VAXft Models 110, 410, 610, and
              612.

           o  Configuring the Model 810. This document describes configura-
              tion procedures for the VAXft Model 810 only.
