Dear Advanced Server and PATHWORKS customers,

Advanced Server V7.2 for OpenVMS is a new networking product
based on PATHWORKS V6 for OpenVMS, with new capabilities to
support the new Windows NT integration features introduced with
OpenVMS V7.2. This product is only available on Alpha, so if you
are a VAX user, please use PATHWORKS V6.0B for OpenVMS.

For your convenience, the enclosed media contain both products:

o    PATHWORKS[TM] V6.0B for OpenVMS[TM] (Advanced Server). This
     OpenVMS layered application provides networking functionally
     equivalent to that of the Windows NT[TM] Server - with
     additional features.

     This software runs on both OpenVMS VAX[TM] and OpenVMS
     Alpha V7.1 and V7.2 systems. Licenses are purchased 
     separately.

o    Advanced Server V7.2 for OpenVMS. This OpenVMS layered
     application provides networking functionally equivalent to
     that of the Windows NT Server - with additional features to
     support new features in OpenVMS V7.2.

     This software runs on OpenVMS V7.2 Alpha systems only.
     Licenses are purchased separately.

Year 2000 Ready

Both PATHWORKS V6.0B for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) and Advanced
Server V7.2 for OpenVMS are Year 2000 ready. For more information,

See the Server Installation and Configuration Guide for your
product for instructions on how to install the software. Also,
read the on-line release notes for your product for other 
important notices.

Licensing Information

You must use the Client Access license with the PATHWORKS V6.0B
for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) and the Advanced Server for 
OpenVMS software. The order numbers for the Client Access licenses
are QM-5SUAA-A*. Upgrades are available for those with licenses
for prior versions of the PATHWORKS for OpenVMS software.

 

Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) for the Client Access licenses
are fully supported only by the following software:

o    PATHWORKS V6.0, V6.0A, and V6.0B for OpenVMS (Advanced
     Server)

o    Advanced Server V7.2 for OpenVMS

o    PATHWORKS V5.0F for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)

Customers using versions of the LAN Manager server earlier
than V5.0F and using licenses supported only by older versions
are strongly encouraged to upgrade to V5.0F, because licenses
supported by older versions of the server software are no longer
offered. Only Client Access licenses are offered.

Note: Some new OpenVMS Alpha servers include two new Client
Access licenses to allow you to start using Advanced Server
for OpenVMS or PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) software
immediately.
