                    ALL-IN-1 DESKtop Server for OpenVMS Version 1.2

                                      COVER LETTER

               This is Version 1.2 for the ALL-IN-1 DESKtop Server
               for OpenVMS. Version 1.2 is a maintenance release that
               provides support for ALL-IN-1 V2.4 and ALL-IN-1 STARTER
               V2.4, and now adds support for ALL-IN-1 V3.0 and ALL-IN-1
               STARTER V3.0. Some key bug-fixes have also been pro-
               vided, and these are documented in the product's release
               notes.

               Installation and operation of the V1.2 product is virtu-
               ally identical to that of V1.1, so the V1.1 Installation
               Guide and Management Guide have not been updated. Dif-
               ferences between the documented and actual behaviour of
               the product are highlighted in the Release Notes.

               The Release Notes also describe the revised disk block
               requirements during installation and for use therafter.
               The disk block requirements for V1.2 have increased
               considerably from those of Version 1.1 mainly due to the
               inclusion of an optional patch kit for ALL-IN-1 DESKtop
               for DOS V1.1 clients. Further details are provided in
               the Release Notes.

               To extract a copy of the online release notes prior
               to installation specify the OPTIONS N parameter when
               using VMSINSTAL. Install Version 1.2 using the following
               VMSINSTAL command:

                      $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL A1SVC012 dev: OPTIONS N

               where "dev" is the name of the device on which the dis-
               tribution media is to be mounted.

               After you have installed Version 1.2, the online Release
               Notes are stored in the file
               SYS$HELP:A1SVC012.RELEASE_NOTES.

               The Version 1.2 installation procedure supports new
               installations, upgrades from a V1.0 or V1.1 system, and
               reinstallations. You will need to reinstal Version 1.2
               after an upgrade from ALL-IN-1 V2.4 to ALL-IN-1 V3.0.

               It is not necessary to update ALL-IN-1 DESKtop for DOS
               V1.1 systems or ALL-IN-1 DESKtop for Macintosh V1.0
               clients to operate with Version 1.2 of the Server.
