Compaq Advanced Server V7.3 and Compaq PATHWORKS V6.1 for
OpenVMS

Dear Advanced Server and PATHWORKS customer,

The enclosed kits contain two products:

o  Compaq PATHWORKS V6.1 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server)

   This OpenVMS layered application provides networking capa-
   bilities that are functionally equivalent to those of the
   Windows NT Server - along with additional features.

   PATHWORKS V6.1 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) supports Open-
   VMS Alpha Versions 6.2, 7.2-1, 7.2-2, and 7.3, and OpenVMS
   VAX Versions 6.2, 7.2, and 7.3. Licenses for PATHWORKS for
   OpenVMS (Advanced Server) are purchased separately.

o  Compaq Advanced Server V7.3 for OpenVMS

   This OpenVMS layered application provides networking capa-
   bilities that are functionally equivalent to those of the
   Windows NT Server - along with capabilities that support
   OpenVMS Version 7.3. The product includes several other new
   features that enhance integration with Microsoft and OpenVMS
   environments.

   Advanced Server V7.3 for OpenVMS supports only OpenVMS Alpha
   Versions 7.2-1, 7.2-2, and 7.3. You can upgrade from Ad-
   vanced Server V7.2A for OpenVMS to Advanced Server V7.3 for
   OpenVMS before you upgrade your operating system to OpenVMS
   Version 7.2-2 or 7.3. Or, you can stay on OpenVMS Alpha Ver-
   sion 7.2-1. Upgrading to Advanced Server V7.3 will give you
   the most recent maintenance updates. Licenses are purchased
   separately.

Installation

See the server installation and configuration guide for your
product for instructions on how to install the software. Read
the on-line release notes for other important notices.

Licensing Information

You must use the Client Access license with PATHWORKS for Open-
VMS (Advanced Server) and Advanced Server for OpenVMS soft-
ware. The order numbers for the Client Access licenses are
QM-5SUAA-A*. See the Software Product Description (SPD 30.50.xx)
for a listing of all license options. The minimum license re-
quired to access PATHWORKS V6.1 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) or
Advanced Server V7.3 for OpenVMS services is the Client Access

 

license PWLMXXXCA07.03. All licenses with earlier versions must
be upgraded. Upgrade licenses are available.

Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) for the Client Access licenses
(PWLMXXXCA07.03) are fully supported only by the following
software:

o  Advanced Server for OpenVMS V7.2, V7.2A, and V7.3

o  PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) V6.0, V6.0A, V6.0B,
   V6.0C, V6.0D, and V6.1

o  PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (LAN Manager) V5.0F

Customers using versions of PATHWORKS LAN Manager server prior
to V5.0F and using licenses supported only by older versions
are strongly encouraged to upgrade to V5.0F. Licenses supported
by older versions of the server software are no longer offered.
Only Client Access licenses are offered.

Note: Some new OpenVMS Alpha servers include two new Client
Access licenses to let you start using Advanced Server for
OpenVMS or PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) software
immediately.
