DIGITAL Commander ---------------------------------------------- Installing on a Windows NT System Revision/Update Information: Version 3.2 This card contains the information that you need to install the DIGITAL Commander server on a Windows NT system. Order Number: AV-R6BFB-TE Installation Prerequisites Before you install the DIGITAL[TM] Commander server, do the following: o Make sure the following software is installed on your system: - Windows NT[R] V3.51 or later - Windows[R] Sockets V1.1 o Back up your system disk. o Ensure that you have Administrator privileges. o Deinstall any copies of the DIGITAL Commander server already installed on your system, using uninstall from the Start menu. Information Required To install the DIGITAL Commander server, you need to know the device name for the drive where the CD-ROM will be mounted. Time Required The time it takes to install the DIGITAL Commander server depends on the resources available on your system. The installation takes approximately one and a half minutes on an AlphaStation[TM] 250 [4/266], when installing all scanning modules. See Chapter 2 of the DIGITAL Commander Server Guide for the size of the log file and how to control it. Installing DIGITAL Commander Insert the disk and run setup.exe. The installation wizard guides you through the installation process. After the Installation The setup tasks required after installation are described in the DIGITAL Commander Server Guide, including: o Authorizing clients o Setting up peer servers Documentation and Further Information After installation, the release notes are kept in the folder you choose during installation, with the name mm_ release_notes.txt. The DIGITAL Commander documentation, including the release notes, is available on the product CD-ROM in the following location: \NT\Docs Chapter 9 of the DIGITAL Commander Server Guide contains a list of the files that should be present on your system after installation, and information about how to contact DIGITAL if the installation fails.
