OSDS and OSMS supports only 5.25 optical libraries/drives. 2 Problems in V1.4 and Fixed in V1.5 Problems in Version 1.4 and fixed in Version 1.5. 1. Installing OSMS on DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.2C induces a system panic during reboot. It has been fixed in 1.5. 2. The first action requested in an autochanger following a bus reset or magazine access returns success without selecting the correct volume. It has been fixed in 1.5. 3. Sparse files (files with gaps in their allocation maps) are rejected as invalid during index mapping when an unknown volume is mounted. It has been fixed in 1.5. 4. There was a license handling problem in running the program included in /usr/include/ofs/omount.h. This problem has been fixed by the new LMF patch included in OSMS/OSDS version 1.5. A new LMF patch for UNIX 3.2x has been incorporated into OSMS/OSDS version 1.5 release to support non-Digital license handling. 5. The spurious "nothing to do" message from the jukebox daemon has been eliminated. 1 3 New Features in Version 1.5 and not in Version 1.4. 1. OSMS and OSDS has been enhanced to support new drive, and new jukeboxes as well as upgrade to certain existing jukeboxes, in addition to the optical hardware supported by OSMS and OSDS version 1.4. Refer to the Software Product Description (SPD) for more details. 2. OSMS and OSDS Version 1.5 is supported on DIGITAL UNIX 3.2C, D, F and G. 3. OSMS Version 1.4 only supported up to 160 slots in a jukebox. It has been enhanced to support 300 slots in version 1.5. 4. The ofs daemon default read/write error quota has been changed to 24. 5. The ofind utility now displays node types and symbolic link path text. 6. OSMS has been enhanced to use the dual-picker feature available in certain jukeboxes. The EXCHANGE command sequence has been implemented to optimize motion during volume swapping in changers equipped with dual-pickers. Using the dual-picker feature in OSMS reduces the volume swapping time. 7. The jukebox control utility (jbc) features a compressed display format to present the status of larger jukeboxes in the normal display area. 2 3 Known Limitations 1. With jukeboxes having firmware 0.37 or above will not work with KZPAA. UNIX patches are underway to rectify this problem. They are not yet officially released. 2. If you are installing MME multimedia product on your system, install MME after installing the OSMS/OSDS product. 3. When you are using the utilities such as ofind, ofsck, ofile, and so forth, with od drive, the platter is ejected when the command is complete. When you issue the command again, in the case of OSDS, the platter will be automatically loaded into the drive, if it was not moved away from the slot, and then the command is executed. However, in the case of OSMS, the command will fail with I/O error the second time. To avoid this error, move the platter back into the drive using the jbc utility or you can also move the platter to the slot and back to the drive again using the jbc utility and then issue the command again; it will work. 4 Supported Media The following 1x, 2x and 4x Digital optical media have been tested with OSMS and OSDS and found to work: DIGITAL RWX1K-01 Rewritable optical disk DIGITAL RWX5K-01 Rewritable optical disk DIGITAL RWX5K-02 WORM optical disk DIGITAl RWX6K-01 Rewritable optical disk DIGITAl RWX6K-03 Rewritable optical disk 3
