DIGITAL Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX, Version 3.0 SPD (Digital's Omni Services for SINEC Au- 47.95.01 tomation Protocols/SINEC H1 Services) DESCRIPTION DECosap for Digital UNIX is a network communication product. It pro- vides a solution to connect Digital Digital UNIX applications with shop floor devices based on Siemens[R] SINEC[R] H1 communication pro- tocol. SINEC H1 services are also identified as PG communication ser- vices within Siemens literature. Siemens SINEC H1 has been recommended for connecting PLCs and host com- puters on large configurations. It has been specified on top of the ISO/OSI Transport Layer and it is based on Ethernet to improve effec- tiveness (through higher performance) and efficiency (through lower costs per connection). DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX fully supports the SINEC H1 communication protocol as detailed in Hardware Requirements. Features As SINEC H1 communication protocol is defined on top of the ISO OSI Transport Layer, DECosap for Digital UNIX relies upon DECnet/OSI to complete the communication stack. For more information, refer to the DECnet/OSI Software Product Description (SPD 41.92.xx). Because of the functional compatibility between Siemens SINEC AP and MMS (Manufacturing Messaging Services), ISO International Standard 9506, Parts 1 and 2, DECosap is integrated with the software architecture February 1996 AE-PZATB-TE DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX, Version 3.0 SPD 47.95.01 (Digital's Omni Services for SINEC Automation Protocols/SINEC H1 Ser- vices) of the DEComni API product to supply the Application Programming In- terface (API). For more information, refer to the DEComni API for Dig- ital UNIX Software Product Description (SPD 47.88.xx). Components o DECosap/H1 Services This component adds support for SINEC H1 functionality under the DEComni API. Supported services are listed at the end of this Software Product De- scription and are divided into the following categories: - Environmental Management - Messages Exchange - Device Management - Variable Access o Configuration and Management Facilities DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX uses the DEComni API facility ODSCL. o Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) DECosap for Digital UNIX IVP performs a series of tests to verify proper installation. Documentation DECosap for Digital UNIX includes the following documentation: o DECosap for OSF/1 AXP Network Manager's and Programmer's Guide pro- vides an overview of SINEC H1 and SINEC AP (see the DECosap/AP for Digital UNIX Software Product Description - (SPD 47.96.01)) con- cepts and terminology. It includes a description of the services that are available through DEComni API and features of DECosap. It also describes the use of the DEComni API utility ODSCL. o DECosap for Digital UNIX Installation Guide explains how to pre- pare for installation, how to install the product, and what to do after DECosap is installed. 2 DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX, Version 3.0 SPD 47.95.01 (Digital's Omni Services for SINEC Automation Protocols/SINEC H1 Ser- vices) INSTALLATION Only experienced customers should attempt to install this product. Dig- ital Equipment Corporation recommends that all other customers pur- chase Digital's Installation Services. These services provide for in- stallation of the software by an experienced Digital Software Special- ist. The installation of DECosap for Digital UNIX consists of the fol- lowing: o Verification that all components of the product have been received. o Verification that the necessary versions of the prerequisite soft- ware and documentation are available. o Verification of the appropriate system parameters. o Verification that the system meets the minimum hardware and soft- ware requirements. o Provision for a reasonable period of time, as mutually agreed upon by Digital and the customer, of all hardware communication facil- ities and terminals that are to be used during installation. o Installation of the software by creating the necessary directories and copying the software from the distribution media. o Verification of the proper installation of the product by running the IVP. Note: If a software specialist is required to modify the operating sys- tem parameters from a previous installation, a prevailing rate time and materials charge will apply. Connectivity to all other nodes within the network is the responsi- bility of the customer. Delays caused by any failure to meet these re- sponsibilities will be charged at the prevailing rate for time and ma- terials. 3 DECosap/H1 for Digital UNIX, Version 3.0 SPD 47.95.01 (Digital's Omni Services for SINEC Automation Protocols/SINEC H1 Ser- vices) ORDERING INFORMATION Software Licenses (unlimited use): QL-0Z7A*-AA Software Licenses (concurrent use): QL-0Z7AM-*B Software Documentation: QA-0Z7AA-GZ Software Product Services: QT-0Z7A*-** * Denotes variant fields.
