Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Tool Kit for OSF/1, SPD 62.67.00 Version 1.0 DESCRIPTION DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Tool Kit for OSF/1[R] is one of a family of prod- ucts including: o DEC SNA 3270 Terminal/Print Services for OSF/1 (SPD 62.71.xx) o DEC SNA Remote Job Entry for OSF/1 (SPD 62.72.xx) o DEC SNA High Level Language API for OSF/1 (SPD 62.70.xx) DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Tool Kit for OSF/1 provides an Application Program- ming Interface that supports communications between an application on an OSF/1 system and a cooperating application on an IBM[R] mainframe (via either the DEC SNA Peer Server product or other DEC SNA Gateway(s) using IBM's LU6.2 verbs. The DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 for OSF/1 product is a library of routines which are linked into OSF/1 applications. When used with DEC SNA Peer Server or another DEC SNA Gateway, this soft- ware resides on an OSF/1 system and communicates with the Gateway us- ing TCP/IP or DECnet protocols. The Advanced Program to Program Communication (APPC) product is a li- brary of routines which are linked into programs which act as Logi- cal Unit 6.2 (LU6.2) transaction application programs. These allow an OSF/1 transaction application to: o Allocate and deallocate LU6.2 basic and mapped conversations o Send and receive data o Request confirmation and confirm transactions o Send error information DIGITAL June 1994 AE-Q6LCA-TE o Supply program initialization parameters o Allow outbound conversation allocation This product consists of two components: o DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Tool Kit, which is required for development sys- tems. o DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Runtime, which is required for all systems on which the user-developed application will run. Features o Provides support for systems to share realtime data and applica- tions. o Allows automatic communication between interactive applications and remote systems using LU6.2. o Easy operation, which includes a menu-driven operator interface, with logging and tracing abilities. o Parallel Sessions - Allows multiple LU6.2 sessions to use the same pair of logical units (when communicating via the DEC SNA Peer Server or the DEC SNA Gateway Domain Gateway).
