Read Before Installing DCE for DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.0

Congratulations on your purchase of the DCE for DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.0 product! This letter describes how to get started on installing and using DCE for DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.0.

Installation Information

Before installing DCE software, you can ensure that your system satisfies the specified software and hardware requirements by reading the Software Product Description (SPD 43.06.06).

Before you install and run DCE for DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.0, you first must 
register and load a License Product Authorization Key (License PAK) using the License Management Facility (LMF).  Refer to the DCE for DIGITAL UNIX 
Installation and Configuration Guide for information on using DIGITAL License PAKs and for step-by-step instructions for installing DCE software and configuring a DCE cell.

Release Notes

The DCE for DIGITAL UNIX Release Notes include a description of new and changed features, a summary of problems addressed in this kit, important notes, known problems, and documentation errata and notes.  DIGITAL recommends that you read the release notes before using DCE software. The Release Notes are included on the layered software products CD-ROM, in ASCII and POSTSCRIPTr formats, in the ascii_doc and ps_doc directories, respectively.  After you have installed DCE for DIGITAL UNIX, you can find the Release Notes as follows:

DCE for DIGITAL UNIX technical documentation is available on the DIGITAL UNIX online documentation CD-ROM on a bookshelf named DCE for DIGITAL UNIX.
