 Dear Customer:

 To continue our tradition of providing enhanced Storage Management
 software capability to our customers, Compaq offers a maintenance
 release of the Compaq Storage Library System for OpenVMS[TM],
 Version 2.9F software.

 Storage Library System (SLS) for OpenVMS, Version 2.9F software
 runs on OpenVMS VAX Versions 5.5-2, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 and on
 OpenVMS, Alpha Versions 6.2, 7.1-2, 7.2-1 and 7.3.

 You can use SLS, Version 2.9F in a mixed-architecture OpenVMS VAX
 and Alpha environment.

 SLS Version 2.9F is a combination of a bug fix release, includes
 qualification for OpenVMS V7.3 VAX and Alpha and adds new devices
 since the SLS 2.9D release.

 OpenVMS Version 7.3 provides support for Fibre Channel (FC) con-
 nected tape devices. This is accomplished through the use of Modu-
 lar Data Router (MDR) connected to the FC Switch.

 MDR converts Fibre Channel protocol to SCSI protocol, which the
 tape device understands. SLS V2.9F has qualified this new fea-
 ture in OpenVMS 7.3 and used with MDR. SLS V2.9F is restricted to
 single cluster environment.

 Please refer to OpenVMS V7.3 for a complete listing of supported
 tape devices.

 The SLS and MDMS V2.9F release notes contain a more detailed list-
 ing of bug fixes. The SLS Software Product Description (SPD) up-
 dates qualified devices for this release.

 RDF V4.3A non-compatibility for OpenVMS 7.3

 Engineering is investigating a problem with RDF V4.3A and OpenVMS
 7.3. The problem is not fully understood at this time to be able
 to footprint it. Engineering does not recommend that an RDF user
 ugrade to OpenVMS VAX or Alpha V7.3. A subsequent RDF version will
 be made available by SLS Engineering.
