                      KAP Fortran Version 3.1 for OpenVMS Alpha

                           Please Read Before Installation


          1  KAP Fortran Kit

          Version 3.1 of KAP Fortran contains major new parallel process-
          ing functionality not available in Version 1.6 released in April
          1994. Version 3.1 supports automatic parallelization of applica-
          tions using Posix threads. Please refer to the release notes for
          details.

          This software requires OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.1 or higher
          running on an Alpha system. Digital Fortran is a prerequisite
          layered product. If Digital Fortran is not installed at the time
          of the installation, the Installation Verification Procedure
          (IVP) will fail.

          The installation of KAP Fortran requires 15,500 blocks of disk
          space.

          KAP Fortran is available on CD-ROM as part of the OpenVMS Alpha
          Layered Products Disk.

          2  KAP Fortran Documentation

          The following documents are available on the OpenVMS Alpha
          Online Documentation Library CD-ROM in Bookreader format and
          in HTML format for Netscape:

          o  KAP Fortran for OpenVMS Alpha User Guide

          o  KAP Fortran for OpenVMS Alpha Installation Guide

          o  KAP Fortran for OpenVMS Alpha Quick Reference

          The documentation kit is also available in hard copy format from
          Digital. The order number is QA-0HFAA-GZ.

          3  KAP Fortran Release Notes

          The release notes contain important instructions, a summary of
          changes, and other relevant information. After installation, the
          online release notes can be found in SYS$HELP:KFORT31.RELEASE_
          NOTES.

 






          4  Reporting Problems and Comments

          If you encounter a problem while using this product, report it
          to Digital. Depending on the nature of the problem and the type
          of support you have, you can take one of the following actions:

          o  Call Digital if your software contract or warranty agreement
             entitles you to telephone support.

          o  Submit a Software Performance Report (SPR).
