Hewlett-Packard Read Before Installing HP ACMS Version 4.5 for OpenVMS Whether you are a new or existing HP ACMS for OpenVMS customer, please take time to read the following information about your product. New Features With Version 4.5 system managers can remotely manage agents, including user-written agents, HP-supplied agents (such as, TP Web Conector and TP Desktop Connector) and agents supplied by other vendors. ACMS Version 4.5 also contains bug fixes. See the Release Notes for complete details. For other product information see the HP ACMS for OpenVMS Software Product Description (SPD). ACMS Knowledge Module An ACMS Knowledge Module for use with BMC PATROL and the ACMS Remote Manager is available on the ACMS web site at the follow- ing URL: http://www.h71000.www7.hp.com/commercial/acms/44_info.html Installation Information Installing ACMS Version 4.5 requires HP OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-2, 7.3-1, or V7.3-2 or HP OpenVMS VAX Version 6.2, 7.2 or 7.3. Before you install the product, read Chapter 2 of the Release Notes for information on any changes to the installation pro- cedure described in the Installation Guide. To install ACMS, invoke the VMSINSTAL command procedure, as described in the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual, and then follow the instruc- tions in the HP ACMS Version 4.4 for OpenVMS Installation Guide. The installation procedure will perform a complete replacement installation. Refer to the ACMS SPD for a complete list of products that are compatible with ACMS Version 4.5. Release Notes Information The release notes for ACMS Version 4.5 contain a summary of new features, known problems, restrictions, incompatibilities, and installation-related instructions. To read the release notes before installing ACMS, invoke VMSINSTAL and follow the instructions in the installation guide. After installing ACMS, the release notes for ACMS are located in: SYS$HELP:ACMS045.RELEASE_NOTES PCA Usage Server procedure debugging or task debugging is not supported using the DECset Performance and Coverage Analyzer (PCA) compo- nent. DECdtm Usage If ACMS is used in a mixed-network environment, HP DECnet for OpenVMS (Phase IV) and HP DECnet-Plus for OpenVMS, and a DECdtm transaction is started within ACMS on a Phase IV system, it will fail with the following condition when it attempts to add the transaction from the DECnet-Plus system. '%SYSTEM-F-NOSUCHNODE, remote node is unknown' The workaround for this problem is to redefine the SYS$DECDTM_ NODE_NAME logical name on the DECnet-Plus system to match its Phase IV equivalent. License Management Facility Information Before you can install ACMS Version 4.5, you must register the Product Authorization Key (PAK), using the License Management Facility (LMF).
