DIGITAL AV-PNMXK-TE Read Before Installing DECmessageQ[TM] for OpenVMS[TM], Version 3.2C DECmessageQ for OpenVMS, Version 3.2C is a replacement of DECmes- sageQ for OpenVMS, Version 3.2B. Version 3.2C provides a patch to repair an installation problem for customers running OpenVMS Alpha Version 1.5. This kit contains no new features or enhance- ments to DECmessageQ for OpenVMS, Version 3.2B. Therefore, Version 3.2C does not need to be installed by OpenVMS VAX customers or by customers running OpenVMS Alpha other than Version 1.5. For a complete description of the new and changed features con- tained in DECmessageQ for OpenVMS, refer to the DECmessageQ Re- lease Notes for OpenVMS. Digital recommends that you read the release notes before installing DECmessageQ software. Installation Prerequisites To install DECmessageQ for OpenVMS, Version 3.2C you must log in to the SYSTEM account on a system that meets the following minimum requirements: o Hardware: - Digital Alpha processor running OpenVMS - Digital VAX processor running OpenVMS o Software: - Digital OpenVMS Alpha - Digital OpenVMS VAX - DECnet or TCP/IP networking software is required if you plan to send messages between systems. The release notes contain late-breaking information about the release that may be important for you to know before installing DECmessageQ. 2 Perform the following tasks to install DECmessageQ for OpenVMS and access the release notes: 1. Invoke VMSINSTAL. Invoke the VMSINSTAL command procedure from a privileged ac- count (such as the SYSTEM account) by entering the following command: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL saveset-name device-name OPTIONS N where: saveset-name is DMQVAXMUPB032 for OpenVMS VAX systems and DMQAXPMUPB032 for OpenVMS Alpha systems. device-name is the name of the device on which you plan to mount the media. OPTIONS N is an optional parameter that indicates you want to review the release notes. None of the above * Select option [2]: Choose one of the following options for reviewing the release notes: o Option 1-VMSINSTAL displays the release notes immediately on the console terminal. Terminate the display at any time by pressing Ctrl/C. o Option 2-VMSINSTAL prompts for the name of the print queue to use, as follows: * Queue name [SYS$PRINT]: Press Return to send the file to the default output print device or enter another queue name. o Option 3-VMSINSTAL displays the release notes immediately on the console terminal and then prompts you for a queue name for the printed version. 5. Halt the installation. VMSINSTAL displays the following question: * Do you want to continue the installation [N]?: %VMSINSTAL-I-RELMOVED, The product's release notes have been successfully moved to SYS$HELP. To halt the installation, press Return.
