Upgrading to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0 and Version 3.0A to TeamLinks Connection Version 2.1 for OpenVMS VAX Read this section if you want to take full advantage of the new functionality provided with TLC Version 2.1 but you do not plan to upgrade to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 immediately. If you are upgrading to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1, you do not need to install TLC Version 2.1 separately. 1 Installing or Upgrading to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 This kit contains all the software required to install ALL-IN-1[TM] Version 3.1 on OpenVMS[TM] VAX[TM] systems or OpenVMS AXP[TM] systems. You can upgrade to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 from ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0 or Version 3.0A, or ALL-IN-1 STARTER for OpenVMS VAX Version 3.0. ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 provides new functionality, including support for: o TeamLinks for Windows [TM] Version 2.1 1 o TeamLinks for Macintosh[R] Version 2.0. o TeamLinks Broadcast Receiver. TeamLinks Demonstration Diskette and Information Sheet This kit includes a TeamLinks demonstration diskette and information sheet. You can install the demonstration diskette on as many PCs (running under Microsoft[R] Windows Version 3.0 or higher) as you wish. This demonstration software requires most of the lower 640KB of MS-DOS[TM] memory, so other programs such as networking software must be temporarily stopped or unloaded for the demonstration to run. A TeamLinks Windows format warning message indicates if there is insufficient memory to display the demonstration banner. The demonstration is installed to disk and requires 1.64MB of space. If you want to know more about TeamLinks after seeing the demonstration, please call the local Digital number as advised in the demonstration. 1.1 Before You Install ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 Digital recommends that you consult the updated docu- mentation before installing ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1. This is particularly important if you are installing ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 on an OpenVMS AXP system. It is important that you read the following: o ALL-IN-1 Installation: Guide This explains how to plan and implement an ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 installation on OpenVMS VAX and OpenVMS AXP systems. o ALL-IN-1 Mail Management Guide This explains the new mail functionality and the implications of setting up and running ALL-IN-1 mail on OpenVMS AXP systems. o ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 Release Notes These contain information relating to the installation. See the ALL-IN-1 Installation: Guide for details of how to access the release notes. 2 o Differences Between ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0 and ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 This describes new functionality, and explains the implications of installing ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 on OpenVMS AXP systems. If you are installing languages other than English, please refer to your specific Software Product Description (SPD) for installation options and limitations. Installing Message Router V3.3A ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1 uses Message Router Version 3.3A which is supplied with this kit. The documentation is the same as for Message Router Version 3.3. The product identifier for Message Router Version 3.3A is MRA033. Use the following command to install Message Router V3.3A: @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL MRA033 device OPTIONS N where device is the name of the device where the distribution medium is to be mounted. See the Message Router documentation for more detail. Installing the Message Router VMSmail Gateway Version 3.3A Enter the following command to install Version 3.3A of the Gateway: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL MRGATEA033 device OPTIONS N where device is the name of the device where the distribution medium is to be mounted, for example, MTA0. 3 2 Upgrading to TeamLinks Connection Version 2.1 (TLC) ________________________Note ________________________ You do not need to install this software separately if you are upgrading to ALL-IN-1 Version 3.1. _____________________________________________________ TLC Version 2.1 provides full support for TeamLinks for Windows Versions 2.0 and 2.1, and TeamLinks for Macintosh Version 2.0. 2.1 Notes on Installing TLC Version 2.1 Before you install TLC Version 2.1, you must install ALL-IN-1 IOS Version 3.0A. This is included in the distribution media. If you already have TLC Version 2.0 installed, there is no need to install ALL-IN-1 IOS Version 3.0A. For information about installing ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0A, see Section 2.2. The TLC Version 2.1 installation instructions are included in the TLC Installation and Management Guide, which is provided in the TLC Version 2.1 kit. The Installation and Management Guide is provided as printable files in a separate saveset on the distribution media. These files are as follows: o TLC021_INST_MGT.PS (PostScript[R] format) o TLC021_INST_MGT.TXT (ASCII text format) To access the Installation and Management Guide: 1. Mount the TLC distribution media. 2. Use the Backup utility to copy the documentation files to a directory on your OpenVMS system: $ BACKUP device:TLC021.D/SAVE_SET dir*.* device is the name of the device on which the distribution media is mounted, and dir*.* is the target file specification for the documentation files. 3. Print the file that you require. 4 2.2 Installing ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0A ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0A is a prerequisite for TLC V2.1. If you are upgrading from TLC Version 2.0, you do not need to read this section. Installation instructions for ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0A are given in the release notes. To obtain the release notes, do the following: 1. From the OpenVMS system manager's account, enter the following command: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL A1_MUPA030 device: OPTIONS N device is the name of the device on which the distribution media is to be mounted. 2. When VMSINSTAL prompts you to, mount the distribution media. 3. After you have mounted the distribution media, VMSINSTAL displays the following prompt: Additional Release Notes Options: 1. Display release notes 2. Print release notes 3. Both 1 and 2 4. None of the above * Select option [2]: Enter the number of the option you require. Because of the large number of problems solved in ALL-IN-1 IOS Version 3.0A, the release notes are long (more than 100 pages). You may therefore wish to edit the rlease notes file in SYS$HELP before print the installation information. If you want to edit the release notes file before printing, select option 1 or option 4. Both these options move the release notes to SYS$HELP. 4. When VMSINSTAL prompts you to choose whether or not to continue the installation, press RETURN to accept the default answer of NO. 5 Once you have accessed the release notes as described, they are stored in the file SYS$HELP:A1_MUPA030.RELEASE_NOTES. © Digital Equipment Corporation 1994.
