          Read Before Installing or Using DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP
          Systems Version 1.1A

          Installation Information

          The OpenVMS AXP November 94 Layered Products Compact Disc (CD)
          contains the installation saveset (kit) and installation guide
          for installing DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems Version 1.1A
          (and other layered products).

          On the CD device, the main DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems
          directory is [VEST011A]. The following DECmigrate for Open-
          VMS AXP Systems files are located on the CD device (such as
          DKA400:):

          o  The DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems installation savesets
             are located in:

                 [VEST011A.KIT]VEST011A.A
                 [VEST011A.KIT]VEST011A.B

          o  The DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Version 1.1A Installation
             Guide, this read first letter, and the Software Product De-
             scription (SPD) are provided as separate files in PostScript
             (.ps) and ASCII (.txt) form in:

          Installing this product requires OpenVMS AXP Version 6.1 or
          higher.

          Release Notes Information

          The release notes for DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems Version
          1.1A contain a summary of known problems, restrictions, and
          documentation corrections. To read the release notes before
          installing DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems, invoke VMSINSTAL
          and follow the instructions in the installation guide. After
          installing DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP Systems, the release notes
          are located in:

              SYS$HELP:VEST011A_RELEASE_NOTES.PS

          License Management Facility (LMF) Information

          An LMF Product Authorization Key (PAK) allows you to access a
          software product and, on the Layered Products CD-ROM, its prod-
          uct documentation in Bookreader format. A PAK must be registered
          and loaded before you can install any products from a Digital
          software CD-ROM. Each product has a unique LMF PAK name. An LMF
          PAK should be included in your kit for each product ordered.

 






          Contents of Kit

          Your kit contains the following:

          o  Indented Bills Report (BIL) and bill of materials (BOM)

             Please read the BIL and BOM enclosed in this kit, and check
             to see that all items listed are in your kit. If your kit
             is damaged, or if parts of it are missing, call your Digital
             representative.

          o  Media

             If you ordered media, you will find the media and the DECmi-
             grate Version 1.1A for OpenVMS AXP Systems: Installation
             Guide in this kit.

          o  CD Booklet and Read First Letter

             If you ordered the Digital CDROM Software Library for OpenVMS
             AXP Layered Products, the Alpha AXP Software Compact Disc
             User's Guide (CD user booklet) and the Read Before Installing
             or Using DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP letter accompany the
             CD distribution kit. The booklet describes the directory
             names on the CD media where subsets are located, lists the
             documentation files provided for each product, and contains
             information on using the Bookreader to read the Bookreader
             formatted files form the CD device.

             If you ordered DECmigrate separately, the Read Before In-
             stalling or Using DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP letter ac-
             companies the CD distribution kit. There is no additional
             booklet.

          o  Documentation

             If you ordered optional hardcopy documentation, your shipment
             includes the following
             DECmigrate manuals:

             -  DECmigrate Version 1.1 for OpenVMS AXP Systems: Translat-
                ing Images
                (AA-PSGMB-TE)

             -  DECmigrate Version 1.1A for OpenVMS AXP Systems: Installa-
                tion Guide
                (AA-PSGNA-TE)

             If you have the Digital CDROM Software Library for OpenVMS
             AXP Layered Products, the documentation is on the CD-ROM in
             Bookreader format. To read the Bookreader files from the CD,
             you or your system manager need to define the logical names
             DECW$BOOK and DECW$BOOKSHELF as described in the Alpha AXP
             Software Compact Disc User's Guide (CD user booklet) that
             accompanies the CD distribution kit. To read the DECmigrate
             documents, use the Bookreader from a DECwindows terminal or
             workstation:

             1. Invoke the Bookreader (see the CD user booklet); the
                initial or navigation Bookreader window appears.

             2. Within the navigation window, select the topic "Program-
                ming Tools and Languages."

             3. Select the topic "DECmigrate for OpenVMS AXP."

             4. Select the appropriate DECmigrate document; the table of
                contents will appear.

          o  Software Product Description (SPD)

             The SPD (AE-PSGPB-TE) provides an overview of the DECmigrate
             kit and its features as well as the technical environment in
             which the product is supported. The SPD is provided either in
             hardcopy or online format in the kit.
