DIGITAL VAX DECalc V4.0B MUP Kit Before installing the VAX DECalc Version 4.0B MUP kit, please read the rest of this cover letter, and review the DECalc Installation and System Manager's Guide as well as the DECalc V4.0 Release Notes. Description ----------- Enclosed is a MUP kit for ALL customers currently using VAX DECalc V4.0. The MUP kit contains several fixes to the DECalc product. This media kit replaces the VAX DECalc V4.0 media kit. This kit can be installed with the VMSINSTAL command procedure, as outlined in Chapter 2 of the DECalc Installation and System Manager's Guide, by using the command: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL CALCMUPB040 [device] OPTIONS N instead of: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL CALC040 [device] OPTIONS N Overview -------- This kit fixes the following problems that were found in V4.0 of DECalc: o When performing consolidation operations that contain named areas, DECalc would hang. o When performing consolidation operations under certain conditions, DECalc would indicate an error but didn't display an error log. o When attempting to reproduce sections, the locked format was not applied to the target sections. o DECalc would return an internal fatal error and crash when attempting to calculate formulas that contain 100 or more operators, operands, and/or functions. o DECalc grids could not be converted to LOTUS 1-2-3 using the CDA Converter Library. o DECalc would return an internal fatal error when attempting to print/save/scroll/refresh grids that contained edit strings which used repeating notation. o When attempting to perform scroll operations on grids with title sections, characters in continuous labels on box boundaries would not be displayed. Special Notes ------- ----- Conversion of DECalc V4.0 grids is not necessary unless they are to be used with the CDA converter or another application which utilizes th Digital Table Interchange Format (DTIF). To use CDA or other DTIF compliant applications, simply run all grids through the CALC$CONVERT_GRIDS.COM command procedure in the CALC$UTILITY directory. This command procedure works for all DECalc V3.x (.CALC$GRD) and V4.0 (.CALC$DTF) grids. Instructions for running the conversion command procedure can be found in Appendix D in the DECalc Reference Manual (AA-JU28B-TE). Documentation ------------- All references to V4.0 in the installation procedure in the DECalc Installation and System Manager's Guide should be changed to V4.0B. This MUP kit does not contain any other changes to the VAX DECalc documentation.
