Installation Information Important: You need to be aware that the process required to execute the complete product install of TP Desktop Connector for ACMS from the OpenVMS Software Product Library (SPL) has been significantly modified for this release. The product is now delivered in 2 distinct kits. As a result the product install process has been extended by a few additional steps to stage and deploy the client software and install the gateway. The 2 kits and their content are: o The client kit (TPW030.A) - delivers the software required for application development on a multiplatform, networked desktop systems environment. 2 o The gateway kit (ACMSDI030.*) - delivers the software required on an OpenVMS system to enable access to DIGITAL ACMS from the desktop systems. To commence with the installation of the product, locate the TP Desktop Connector V3.0 for ACMS CONDIST Installation Guide (ACMSDI030_IGUIDE.TXT). This TEXT ONLY format document is the sin- gle source of information for the sequential steps required to install the product. It also identifies how you gain access to the Release Notes. The Release Notes, an important document that you will need to re- view before completing the product install, are accessible at Step 3 of the Client Kit Staging section of the TP Desktop Connector V3.0 for ACMS CONDIST Installation Guide. Please note, Step 3 in the Client Kit Staging section also refers to the TP Desktop Gateway for ACMS installation. The online ver- sion of the TP Desktop Gateway Installation Guide is in POSTSCRIPT ONLY format (ACMSDI030_IGUIDE.PS). Technical Updates Client o The OpenVMS client installation directory, described in Section 3.3, Step 1 of the TPware Product Suite Installation Guide, must be created from a user account, not from the system ac- count. o The OpenVMS VAX client archive file must be renamed from VMS_ CLIENT.EXE.EXE to VMS_CLIENT.EXE before copying to target sys- tem. o The 4MB disk space requirement for installation of the Al- pha32 client described in the installation guide, is a minimum requirement only. Depending on your Alpha32 system disk config- uration, additional space may be required. o Remote client installations on 32-bit systems may not work in heterogenous Windows 95/NT environments. The suggested workaround is to download all of the client installation files within the 32-bit folder onto local disk on the target system before installing. o The copyright date on the TPware Management Utility screen should read 1998. This is being noted to assure you that the utility is the latest version and in no way affects the oper- ability of the product. Gateway o Gateway installation on an OpenVMS VAX platform requires 5408 blocks, not 3500 blocks as stated in the installation guide. 3 Web Page Information For additional information on TP Desktop Connector for ACMS and related products, checkout the following web pages: DIGITAL TP Desktop www.software.digital.com/tpdesktop Connector: DIGITAL TP Web www.software.digital.com/tpwebconnect Connector: DIGITAL ACMS: www.software.digital.com/acms DIGITAL ACMSxp: www.software.digital.com/acmsxp DIGITAL Portable TP: www.digital.com/portabletp Trademarks The following are trademarks of Digital Equipment Corporation: ACMS, ACMS Desktop, DIGITAL, the DIGITAL logo, and OpenVMS.
