      This cover letter contains important information that you should
      read before installing and using the EDCS[TM] II Version 2.4A
      product.

      Before you install EDCS II Version 2.4A, please read the fol-
      lowing documents:

         The release notes contain information about new and changed
         features of Version 2.4A, as well as information about known
         restrictions.

      o  EDCS II Installation Guide

      o  EDCS II Administrator's Guide

      Contents of Kit

      Your EDCS II Version 2.4A kit contains the following:

      o  Bill of Materials

         Please read the Bill of Materials enclosed in your kit, and
         check to see that all items listed are actually in your kit.
         If your kit is damaged, or if you find that parts of it are
         missing, please call your Digital[TM] representative.

      o  Software Product Description

         The Software Product Description (SPD) provides an overview
         of EDCS II Version 2.4A and its features. The SPD lists sup-
         ported and nonsupported processors for clients and servers.

         Your kit contains software supplied on the appropriate type
         of media.

      o  Documentation

         The EDCS II hardcopy documentation set shipped with your kit
         consists of this cover letter and the following documents:

      o  PAKs (Product Authorization Keys)

         PAKs are used for loading and registering licenses. There are
         separate PAKs for servers and clients.
