Installation Information Installing DIGITAL GKS Version 6.5 requires the DIGITAL UNIX[R] operating system Version 3.2c or higher. DIGITAL GKS Version 6.5 also runs on DEC OSF/1[R] Version 2.0 or higher. Previous versions of DIGITAL GKS do not need to be installed before this version. NOTE DIGITAL GKS Version 6.5 for DIGITAL UNIX is the final version that will support DEC OSF/1 Version 2.0. Future versions of DIGITAL GKS will require DIGITAL UNIX Version 3.2c or higher. The DIGITAL UNIX Alpha Software Products media consists of the following: o Software Product Library CD-ROMs containing the installation kits and related documentation in ASCII and PostScript[R] formats. o Online Documentation Library CD-ROMs containing documentation files in Bookreader[TM] and other online formats. One of the Software Product Library CD-ROMs contains the in- stallation kit subsets and installation guide for installing DIGITAL GKS Version 6.5. The main DIGITAL GKS directory is gkd650 for the development kit, and gkr650 for the run-time-only kit. After DIGITAL GKS installation, the release notes files are located in the /usr/lib/GKS directory. These files are: decaxpgks650.release_notes (ASCII format) decaxpgks650_release_notes.ps (PostScript format) To read the ASCII form of the release notes, for example, enter: # more /usr/lib/GKS/decaxpgks650.release_notes License Management Facility Before you can install DIGITAL GKS, you must register and load a Product Authorization Key (PAK), using the License Management Facility (LMF).
