Hewlett-Packard HP DECprint Supervisor for OpenVMS, Version 2.4A June 2005 Dear DECprint Supervisor Customer: DECprint Supervisor (DCPS) V2.4A for OpenVMS Integrity servers fixes some problems with the V2.4 installation procedure that could be seen by some customers. Otherwise, the DCPS software is identical in both V2.4 and V2.4A. If you have already installed DCPS V2.4, you do not need to install DCPS V2.4A. Because the changes made in DCPS V2.4A for Integrity servers are already included in DCPS V2.4 for Alpha and VAX systems, there is no V2.4A release for those systems. The problems fixed in DCPS V2.4A include the following: o With V2.4, if the queue manager had never been started, the installation would fail and display the following messages: %DCL-W-INSFPRM, missing command parameters - supply all required parameters %DCPS-F-USERABORT, operation terminated by user request %PCSI-E-S_OPFAIL, operation failed %PCSIUI-E-ABORT, operation terminated due to an unrecoverable error condition The following operator messages would also be received: %%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 22-DEC-2004 17:28:57.98 %%%%%%%%%%% Message from user SYSTEM %JBC-E-OPENERR, error opening SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]QMAN$MASTER.DAT; %%%%%%%%%%% OPCOM 22-DEC-2004 17:28:57.98 %%%%%%%%%%% Message from user SYSTEM -RMS-E-FNF, file not found With V2.4A, the installation is successful regardless of whether the queue manager has ever been started. o To run the DCPS Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) during installation, the system queue manager must be run- ning. With V2.4, the IVP would run and fail even if the queue manager was not running. The DCPS software would install successfully, but the IVP would fail with the following messages: %JBC-E-JOBQUEDIS, system job queue manager is not running %JBC-E-JOBQUEDIS, system job queue manager is not running %JBC-E-JOBQUEDIS, system job queue manager is not running %DELETE-E-NOTDELETED, error deleting DCPS$IVP_TEST -JBC-E-JOBQUEDIS, system job queue manager is not running %PCSI-I-PRCERREXE, error executing: @pcsi$destination:[systest]dcps$ivp pcsi %PCSI-E-IVPFAILURE, test procedure completed with an error status -VMI-W-NORMAL, normal successful completion %PCSI-E-IVPINSTALL, product is installed, but its verification test has failed With V2.4A, the IVP will not run unless the queue manager is running.
