Hewlett-Packard Read Before Installing or Using HP Wide Area Networking for Tru64 UNIX, Version 4.1B This cover letter provides information on the HP Wide Area Networking for Tru64 UNIX, Version 4.1B product. You should read this letter before attempting to install the product. Throughout the rest of this document, HP Wide Area Networking Support for Tru64 UNIX is referred to as WAN Support. Support for TruCluster Rolling Upgrade Version 4.1B of Wide Area Networking Support for Tru64 UNIX sup- ports a TruCluster rolling upgrade. See the Release Notes for information on installing the product in a TruCluster environ- ment. Wide Area Network Synchronous Communication Devices With Version 4.1B, synchronous devices are now supported in multiple members of a cluster. However, these devices cannot be shared clusterwide. Tru64 UNIX Software Products Library HP Wide Area Networking for Tru64 UNIX software and documenta- tion ship on the HP Tru64 UNIX CD-ROM distribution. o The Tru64 UNIX Software Product Library CD-ROM contains the installable subsets, Installation Guide, Software Product Description, and Release Notes (in ASCII and PostScript formats). The WAN support files and installable subsets are stored in the directory: /XXA41B For information about installing WAN Support on your system, refer to the Installation Information section of this Cover Letter. The Release Notes for WAN Support contain installation- related instructions and a summary of technical changes, known problems, restrictions, and incompatibilities. HP recommends that you read the Release Notes before installing WAN Support. The Release Notes are located on the Tru64 UNIX Software Product Library CD-ROM in PostScript (.PS) and ASCII (.TXT) form in the directory: /XXA41B/documentation o The Tru64 UNIX Online Documentation Library CD-ROM contains user documentation in Bookreader format. The following manuals are provided: You may also order a hardcopy documentation kit using the fol- lowing order number: QA-MVDAA-GZ. The Tru64 UNIX Layered Products Compact Disc User's Guide book- let (CD booklet) and a Read Me First letter accompany the CD distribution kit. The CD booklet: o describes the directory names on the Software Product Library CD where product subsets are located; o lists the documentation files on the Online Documentation Library CD provided for each product; and o contains information on using Bookreader to read the Bookreader-formatted files from the Documentation CD device (/decw_book directory). Installation Information Installing WAN Support requires the Tru64 UNIX Operating System Version 5.1, 5.1A, or V5.1B. WAN Support files are stored in the directory: /XXA41B on the Software Product Library CD. The following WAN Support files are provided: o The WAN Support installable subsets, which are located in: /XXA41B/kit o The WAN Support installation guide (WAN Support for DIGITAL UNIX Systems - Installation Guide), this cover letter, and the Software Product Description (SPD) are provided as files in PostScript (.PS) and ASCII (.TXT) form in the directory: /XXA41B/documentation License Management Facility (LMF) Information A License Management Facility (LMF) Product Authorization Key (PAK) allows you to access a software product and its documenta- tion in Bookreader format. A PAK must be registered and loaded before you can install WAN Support from the HP CD-ROM Software Library for Tru64 UNIX Layered Products. Refer to the CD Read Me First letter for information on LMF requirements needed to read the WAN Support documentation using Bookreader. Accessing Bookreader Documentation To enable access to the WAN Support Bookreader files, your sys- tem manager needs to define the DECW_BOOK environment variable as described in the HP Tru64 UNIX Layered Products Compact Disc User's Guide in the CD distribution kit. To read the WAN Support documents, run Bookreader on a graphics terminal: 2 a. Invoke Bookreader (refer to the Tru64 UNIX Layered Prod- ucts Compact Disc User's Guide); the initial or navigation Bookreader window is displayed. b. Select the appropriate WAN Support document.
