July 2005 Read Before Installing HP DECset Version 12.7 The DECset kit consists of a group of programmer productivity tools that aid in the development of system or application software on an OpenVMS system. The DECset V12.7 release is for three separate OpenVMS oper- ating system platforms: OpenVMS Alpha, OpenVMS VAX and OpenVMS Industry Standard 64 (I64) for Integrity servers. Minor new en- hancements for DECset include support for Java and HTML in the Language Sensitive Editor (LSE). Each DECset V12.7 operating system platform consists of the following components: o Language-Sensitive Editor (LSE), Version 5.0 o Source Code Analyzer (SCA), Version 4.9 o Digital Test Manager (DTM), Version 4.3 o Performance and Coverage Analyzer (PCA), Version 4.9 o Code Management System (CMS), Version 4.4 o Module Management System (MMS), Version 3.7 Licensing Information Before you install DECset Version 12.7, you must first register a License Product Authorization Key (License PAK) using the License Management Facility (LMF). Product licenses and media are ordered separately. The DECset for OpenVMS Alpha and VAX products are license by personal, concurrent and unlimited system class basis. Refer to the appropriate Software Product Description (Alpha SPD 42.29.15 or VAX SPD 27.07.22) for more information. The DECset for OpenVMS I64 product is licensed on a per- processor (PPL) basis. Distribution Media DECset media continues to be available on the OpenVMS Alpha CD-ROM Software Product Library, OpenVMS VAX CD-ROM Software Product Library and OpenVMS I64 CD-ROM Layered Product Library. Note: The independent product offerings and associated distri- bution services for DECset Alpha and VAX will be discontinued prior to the release of future versions. Release Notes The release notes for each of the components that comprise the DECset kit contain information about new features, corrected errors, performance enhancements, restrictions, known problems, and incompatibilities.
