DIGITAL Read Before Installing DIGITAL ACMS[TM] Version 4.2 for OpenVMS[TM] Systems AV-U721Q-TE Whether you are a new or existing DIGITAL ACMS[TM] customer, please take time to read the following information about your product. Installation Information Installing ACMS Version 4.2 requires one of the following operat- ing systems: o DIGITAL OpenVMS Alpha Operating System, Version 6.1, 6.2, or 7.1 o DIGITAL OpenVMS VAX Operating System, Version 5.5-2, 6.1, 6.2, or 7.1 To install ACMS, invoke the VMSINSTAL command procedure as out- lined in Chapter 3 of the DIGITAL ACMS for OpenVMS Managing Ap- plications Manual, and follow the instructions in the DIGITAL ACMS for OpenVMS Installation Guide. The installation procedure will perform a complete replacement installation. Refer to the DIGITAL ACMS Version 4.2 Software Product Description for a complete list of the products that are compatible with ACMS Version 4.2. Release Notes Information The Release Notes for ACMS Version 4.2 contain a summary of new features, known problems, restrictions, incompatibilities, and installation-related instructions. To read the Release Notes be- fore installing ACMS, invoke VMSINSTAL and follow the instructions in the installation guide. After installing ACMS, the Release Notes for ACMS are located in: SYS$HELP:ACMS042.RELEASE_NOTES DIGITAL DECADMIRE-Rapid Application Development Tool Also available from DIGITAL is DIGITAL DECADMIRE. This develop- ment tool can be used to generate complete ACMS-based production applications using DIGITAL DECforms as the presentation interface on character cell terminals. A description of the methodology for generating applications used by DECADMIRE can be found in DECAD- MIRE Introduction included within the ACMS documentation set. PCA Usage Server procedure debugging or task debugging is not supported us- ing the DECset Performance and Coverage Analyzer (PCA) component. DECdtm Usage If ACMS is used in a mixed network environment, DECnet Phase IV and DECnet-Plus, and a DECdtm transaction is started within ACMS on a Phase IV system, it will fail with the following condition when it attempts to add the transaction from the DECnet-Plus sys- tem. '%SYSTEM-F-NOSUCHNODE, remote node is unknown' The workaround for this problem is to redefine the SYS$DECDTM_ NODE_NAME logical name on the DECnet-Plus system to match its Phase IV equivalent. License Management Facility Information Before you can install ACMS Version 4.2, you must register the Product Authorization Key (PAK), using the License Management Facility (LMF). See the OpenVMS License Management Utility Manual for registration instructions.
