Before installing and using NetWorker, please read the following information. Release Notes Please read the release notes before installing NetWorker. The release notes for NetWorker Version 4.3 describe enhancements, features, and restrictions for this release. These release notes are included in your distribution kit on the DIGITAL layered product CD-ROM. The PostScript file is titled brx430_relnotes.ps and the text file is brx430_relnotes.txt. See the Software Product Library CD-ROM User's Guide for instructions on how to locate and print the release notes from the CD-ROM. The release notes are also included in the NetWorker Release Notes and Documentation subset (BRXRNOTES430). See the Installation Guide Version 4.3 for instructions on how to install this subset. License PAK Registration Upon receiving your NetWorker distribution kit, you must register your NetWorker license PAKs. The number and type of license PAKs to register depend on your system's configuration. With respect to license PAKs, please note the following: o NetWorker license PAKs must be registered prior to installing the NetWorker product in order to exercise NetWorker full functionality. o It is essential that you understand the types of licenses and the NetWorker license PAK registration process before registering your NetWorker license PAKs. For detailed information on NetWorker licenses, see the Software Product Description. For information on license PAK registration, see the NetWorker Save and Restore Installation Guide. Client Kits NetWorker Version 4.3 includes client software for the DIGITAL UNIX client. In addition, there are over 20 client platforms [C] Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. Documentation The NetWorker Save and Restore for DIGITAL UNIX documentation is not available online on the DIGITAL UNIX Alpha Online Documentation distribution. A PostScript file for each of the books in the documentation set is available in the NetWorker Release Notes and Documentation subset. After installing this subset (BRXRNOTES430), you can print each of the books on a PostScript printer. Printed documentation is also available and can be ordered using the following part number: QA-2ALAA-GZ.4.3 Not all of the manuals in the NetWorker Version 4.2C documentation set have been revised for NetWorker Version 4.3. Changes in the functionality of NetWorker did not require all of the manuals to be modified. The following documents were not updated for this release and will show Version 4.2C on the cover. Be assured, however, that you have the most current information: o NetWorker Save and Restore for DIGITAL UNIX Administrator's Guide o NetWorker Save and Restore for DIGITAL UNIX User's guide Setting Up Your NetWorker Environment NetWorker V4.3 requires functionality not available in the base operating system distributions of DIGITAL UNIX 4.0A and 4.0B. Therefore, before you install this product, you may need to install operating system patches. Refer to the Release Notes for information and instructions on acquiring and installing these patches. After you have successfully completed the installation of your NetWorker server and clients, you are ready to configure NetWorker for your environment. Chapter 5 of the NetWorker Addendum contains information on the NetWorker default settings as well as suggestions to consider as you customize NetWorker for your environment.
