COMPAQ OpenVMStm Alpha Software Product Library-March 2001 AV-RDA6L-TE Welcome to this month's OpenVMS Alpha Software Product Library Package. The March 2001 package includes the changes described in the following sections. ODL-PC Installation Information A new addition in the Online Documentation Library (ODL) release is the OpenVMS Alpha Online Documentation Library for MS-Windows (ODL-PC). The ODL-PC enables you to view the OpenVMS Alpha Online Documentation Library locally on a PC running Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/Me or NT 4.0. In addition to BNU and Bookreader software that has been redesigned to run natively on MS-Windows, the ODL-PC also incorporates AltaVista Search functionality. The steps in installing the ODL-PC are as follows: 1. Insert the ODL-CD-ROM into the CD-ROM reader. 2. View the "Readme.txt" file in the top-level directory for important information before proceeding with the installation. 3. From the "Start" menu, select "Run…" and enter J:\Setup.exe, where J is the drive letter assigned to the ODL CD-ROM. 4. Respond to the setup program dialogs as desired and/or take the default responses by pressing . 5. After completion of the setup program, invoke the BNY from "Start/Programs/Compaq ODL/BNU". System Tools CD The System Tools CD that is included with the Software Products Library containing diagnosis and supporting software is not included for this quarter. Most of the tools on the CD were preparing to release new, improved versions but could not make the OVMS Alpha quarterly update shipment deadline. The System Tools CD will be included in the Q2 June shipment. Compaq Service personnel locally and at the Compaq Service Centers have access to the latest versions of all tools. You can also access service tools from the web at: http://www.support.compaq.com/svctools/ We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience. © 2001 Compaq Computer Corporation Removals from the Software Products Library (March 2001) DEC PL/I for OpenVMS is now a product of Kednos Corporation, and will be removed from our March 2001 release.
