COMPAQ OpenVMStm Alpha Software Products Library-June 2001 AV-RDA6M-TE Welcome to this month's OpenVMS Alpha Software Products Library Package. The June 2001 package includes the changes described in the following sections. Support for Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3 To allow layered software products to qualify on the revenue release of Compaq OpenVMS Operating System Version 7.3, the OpenVMS Alpha Software Products Library has been released two weeks after its original quarterly schedule. Customers with an urgent need to adopt the new functionality in OpenVMS 7.3 require layered product version that have been qualified against this new OS release. Operating System support information can be found on the Software Library as follows: o For updating products, OS support information can be found in each product's Software Product Description (SPD), located in the product's binary kit. o For all products, a summary of OS support is available on the following file on binary disc #1: [README]SW_COMPAT_MATRIX.TXT. o Qualification test results received after this release of the Software Products Library can be found at the following URL: http://www.openvms.compaq.com/openvms/os/swroll/index.html Compaq e-Business Infrastructure CD, Version 1.1 Included for the first time in this release of the OpenVMS Alpha Software Products Library, the Compaq OpenVMS e-Business Infrastructure Package provides key Internet and e-Business software technology that enhances the base OpenVMS Alpha operating system. These technologies are licensed via the OpenVMS Alpha operating system and are supported via Compaq Services agreements for OpenVMS Alpha. The software and associated documentation on this CD are for use on systems that have hardware warranty, a service contract, or service obligation. The System Tools CD and associated web pages may contain new diagnosis software that is applicable to the system and should be reviewed for the most recent updates to the diagnosis tools. http://www.support.compaq.com/svctools/ ODL-PC Installation Information A new addition in the Online Documentation Library (ODL) release is the OpenVMS Alpha Online Documentation Library for MS-Windows (ODL-PC). The ODL-PC enables you to view the OpenVMS Alpha Online Documentation Library locally on a PC running Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/Me or NT 4.0. In addition to BNU and Bookreader software that has been redesigned to run natively on MS-Windows, the ODL-PC also incorporates AltaVista Search functionality. The steps in installing the ODL-PC are as follows: 1. Insert the ODL-CD-ROM into the CD-ROM reader. 2. View the "Readme.txt" file in the top-level directory for important information before proceeding with the installation. 3. From the "Start" menu, select "Run…" and enter J:\Setup.exe, where J is the drive letter assigned to the ODL CD-ROM. 4. Respond to the setup program dialogs as desired and/or take the default responses by pressing . 5. The Software Compatibility Matrix shows the minimum and maximum Operating System versions supported by each software product on the Software Products Library. This matrix is located on disc 1in the following file: [README]SW_COMPAT_MATRIX.PS (.TXT) Licensing Information A valid software product license is required to access and use each software product on the Software Products Library. The subscription service, "Consolidated Distribution and Documentation Service," requires the customer to purchase either a Service Contract that provides the rights to use new versions of software or to purchase the appropriate Software Update License for each new version. These kits are not separately orderable and do not have part numbers.
