The LMF is available with Version 1.5 of the Asian OpenVMS AXP operating system. The Product Authorization Key (PAK) that is shipped with Asian DECforms contains the license registration information you need. The PAK is a paper certificate that contains information about the license you have purchased to run a particular piece of software. It is best to register your Asian DECforms license before you do the installation. During the installation, you are asked whether you have registered the Asian DECforms license and loaded the appropriate authorization key. If you have not registered the Asian DECforms license and loaded the appropriate authorization keys, you can complete the installation; however, you 1-2 Preparing to Install the Asian DECforms Software cannot run either the Asian DECforms software or its Installation Verification Procedure (IVP). Once you register the license and load an authorization key, you can run the IVP and use Asian DECforms. To register a license under Version 1.5 or higher of the Asian OpenVMS AXP operating system, log in to the system manager's account, SYSTEM. You then can register a license in one of the following ways: o Run the SYS$UPDATE:VMSLICENSE.COM procedure. When the procedure prompts you for information, enter data from your PAK. o Enter the LICENSE REGISTER command with the appropriate qualifiers that correspond to the information on the PAK. For complete information on using LMF, see the section in the OpenVMS documentation set on the License Management Utility. __________________________________________________________ 1.5 Installation Requirements The following sections discuss various requirements for installing Asian DECforms. _____________________________ 1.5.1 Time Installing Asian DECforms and running the IVP requires approximately 2 to 10 minutes. _____________________________ 1.5.2 Privileges To install Asian DECforms, you must be logged in to an account that has SETPRV or the following privileges: o CMKRNL o WORLD 1-3 Preparing to Install the Asian DECforms Software o SYSPRV VMSINSTAL turns off the BYPASS privilege at the start of the installation. _____________________________ 1.5.3 Disk Space Installing Asian DECforms requires a certain amount of free storage space before and after the installation. Table 1-1 summarizes the storage requirements. __________________________________________________________ Table 1-1 Disk Space Requirements __________________________________________________ Asian DECforms Blocks During Blocks After Kit________________Installation_____Installation__ ________Run-Time_Kit_______9,000____________8,500_________ To determine the number of free disk blocks on the system disk, enter the following command: $ SHOW DEVICE SYS$SYSDEVICE _____________________________ 1.5.4 System Parameters Installing Asian DECforms requires certain system parameter settings. Table 1-2 lists the minimum required system parameter values for the installation. __________________________________________________________ Table 1-2 Required System Parameter Values __________________________________________________ System_Parameter___________Value__________________ GBLPAGES 7,000 ________GBLSECTIONS________________7______________________ The numbers shown in Table 1-2 represent the required number of unused global pages and global sections on your system for the Asian DECforms 1-4 Preparing to Install the Asian DECforms Software installation to process. If your system has less than the required number, you must increase those values to the amount indicated. If you are installing Asian DECforms on an OpenVMS Version 1.5 system, you can use the WRITE command with the F$GETSYI lexical function to find the number of unused global pages and global sections. The following example shows how to get this information at your terminal (the default for SYS$OUTPUT). $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$GETSYI("FREE_GBLPAGES") 3420 $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$GETSYI("FREE_GBLSECTS") 24 If the values displayed by the system are greater than the values in Table 1-2, you do not need to increase the values for those parameters. If the value of free global pages or global sections is less than the value in Table 1-2, you must increase the system parameter setting. Use the AUTOGEN command procedure to change the system parameters. AUTOGEN automatically adjusts values for parameters that are associated with the values you reset manually. To change the system parameters with AUTOGEN, use the following procedure: 1 Edit the SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT file. Use an editor to access the file. To change a parameter value listed in this file, delete the current value associated with that parameter and enter the new value. To add a new parameter, add a line to the file that includes both the name of the parameter and its value. For example: WSMAX = 1024 1-5 Preparing to Install the Asian DECforms Software To modify incremental parameters such as GBLPAGES and GBLSECTS, use ADD_. The following command increases the global page setting by 2000. ADD_GBLPAGES = 2000 When you set the page file quota, do not use a value that exceeds the amount of page file space available on the system. 2 After you make all your changes, exit from the editor and execute the AUTOGEN procedure to recalculate your system parameters. Enter the following command at the DCL prompt: $ @SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN GETDATA REBOOT When you specify REBOOT, AUTOGEN performs an automatic system shutdown and then reboots the system. Any users logged on to the system are immediately disconnected during the shutdown. The automatic reboot puts the new parameter values into effect. AUTOGEN automatically adjusts some of the SYSGEN parameters based on the consumption of resources since the last reboot. If you do not want to take advantage of this automatic adjustment, include the NOFEEDBACK qualifier on the AUTOGEN command line. For more information about using AUTOGEN, see the OpenVMS System Management Subkit. _____________________________ 1.5.5 VMSINSTAL Requirements When you run VMSINSTAL, it checks whether: o You are logged in to a privileged account. o You have adequate quotas for installation. o DECnet is up and running. o Any users are logged in to the system. 1-6 Preparing to Install the Asian DECforms Software If VMSINSTAL detects any problems during the installation, it notifies you and asks whether you want to continue the installation. You might also want to add the command to run a command procedure that defines the output format for date and time other than the standard OpenVMS format. Add the command line that starts Asian DECforms to the system startup file, SYS$STARTUP:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM. Put this command line with the command lines that set up other products. These command lines follow the network startup command line as follows: $ @SYS$MANAGER:STARTNET.COM . . . $ @SYS$STARTUP:FORMS$STARTUP.COM If you want programmers on your system to have access to the spellings of date and time elements (such as months) in languages other than English, define the VMS logical name SYS$LANGUAGES. In addition, if you want programmers to have access to date and time formats other than the default 3-1 After Installing the Asian DECforms Software standard formats, you can run a procedure named LIB$DT_STARTUP.COM in your system startup file. If you want this command procedure to define the spellings of non-English date and time elements, you must define SYS$LANGUAGES before you run the LIB$DT_STARTUP command procedure. The English spellings of date and time elements remain available. For example, if you want Hangul and German spellings of date and time elements and alternate date and time formats, add the following commands to SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM: $ DEFINE SYS$LANGUAGES HANGUL, GERMAN $ @SYS$MANAGER:LIB$DT_STARTUP.COM You can add the definition of SYS$LANGUAGES and the command to run LIB$DT_STARTUP.COM directly after the Asian DECforms startup command line. For more information on the SYS$LANGUAGES logical name and the LIB$DT_STARTUP command procedure, see the VMS documentation on date and time formatting routines. _____________________________ 3.1.1 Hebrew Installation Notes The Asian DECforms installation process places the Hebrew run-time message file in: SYS$MESSAGE:FORMS$MSGMGRSHR_HEBREW.EXE The English run-time message file is found in: SYS$MESSAGE:FORMS$MSGMGRSHR.EXE Asian DECforms uses the English message file by default. To use the Hebrew messages, the system manager should replace the English file with the Hebrew file, and then reinstall the image by performing @FORMS$STARTUP. The user also can use the logical name FORMS$MSGMGRSHR to point to the desired language- specific message file. 3-2 After Installing the Asian DECforms Software __________________________________________________________ 3.2 User Account Requirements To use Asian DECforms, user accounts on your system must have the TMPMBX and NETMBX privileges. The accounts also must have the quotas shown in Table 3-1. __________________________________________________________ Table 3-1 Minimum User Account Quotas for Developing Asian DECforms Applications __________________________________________________ Account_Quota____Minimum_Value____________________ BYTLM 16384 ________PRCLM____________3________________________________ User account privileges and quotas are stored in the file SYSUAF.DAT. To verify and change the user account privileges and quotas, use the Authorize Utility as follows: 1 Set your directory to SYS$SYSTEM and run the Authorize Utility: $ SET DEFAULT SYS$SYSTEM $ RUN AUTHORIZE UAF> 2 At the Authorize Utility prompt (UAF>), enter the SHOW command with an account name to check a particular account,. For example: UAF> SHOW SMITH 3 To change a privilege or quota, enter the MODIFY command in the following format: UAF> MODIFY account-name /PRIVILEGES=privilege-name/quota-name =nnnn The following example adds the NETMBX privilege, modifies the BYTLYM quota for the SMITH account, and exits the utility: UAF> MODIFY SMITH /PRIVILEGES=NETMBX /BYTLM=16384 UAF> EXIT 3-3 After Installing the Asian DECforms Software After you exit the utility, the VMS operating system displays messages indicating whether changes were made. Once you have made the changes, users must log out and log in again for the new privileges and quotas to take effect. For more information on modifying account privileges and quotas, see VMS Authorize Utility Manual. __________________________________________________________ 3.3 Determining and Reporting Problems If an error occurs while Asian DECforms is being used, and you believe that a problem with Asian DECforms is causing the error, do one of the following actions: o If you have a BASIC or DECsupport Software Agreement, call your Customer Support Center. o If you have a Self-Maintenance Software Agreement, submit a Software Performance Report (SPR). o If you purchased Asian DECforms within the past 90 days and you think a software error is causing the error, submit an SPR. 3-4 __________________________________________________ A Asian DECforms AXP Compact Disc Notes This chapter describes the Asian DECforms distribution kit packaged in Digital's CD-ROM Software Library. __________________________________________________________ A.1 CD-ROM Contents: Software The Asian DECforms Software Kit contains saveset of the binary image.
