Debugger Client PC Installation HP OpenVMS Debugger Version 8.2 includes a client/server in- terface. The debug server runs on OpenVMS. The debug clients that run on OpenVMS include: Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. There is no special installation procedure for the components that run on OpenVMS. This document describes the procedure for installing the debug client on a PC. The following table shows which client kit to use for each PC configuration: ________________________________________________________________ CPU_______System__________Client_Kit____________________________ Intel Microsoft [DEBUG_CLIENTS011.KIT]DEBUGX86011.EXE Windows 95, 98 Intel Microsoft [DEBUG_CLIENTS011.KIT]DEBUGX86011.EXE Windows NT Intel Microsoft [DEBUG_CLIENTS011.KIT]DEBUGX86011.EXE Windows __________2000,_XP______________________________________________ These client kits are self-extracting .EXE files. To make these clients available to PC users, copy these files from the distri- bution media to a suitable PATHWORKS share, FTP server, or other device available to the PC. Once the appropriate executable file has been transferred to the PC, run the file to install the debug client on the PC. The InstallShield[TM] installation procedure guides you through the installation. By default, the debug client is installed in the \Program Files\OpenVMS Debugger directory. You can also click Browse to select an alternate directory. The installation creates an OpenVMS Debugger program folder which contains shortcuts to the following items: o Debug client o Debug client Help file o A Readme file o An Uninstall procedure To start the Debug client, double-click the spider icon in the OpenVMS Debugger program folder. Please read the README.TXT file. NOTE COMCTL32.DLL is NOT provided as part of the installation procedure. The Debugger Client requires version 4.70, 1 or later, of this DLL file. If you have an earlier ver- sion, you can get a newer version by installing certain Microsoft products, such as Internet Explorer, or by in- stalling the Microsoft update kit 40COMUPD.EXE (Intel 95/NT), included with the Debug Client kit, or downloaded from the Microsoft web site.
