This information is also provided in the DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C for DIGITAL UNIX User's Guide, along with instructions for removing the software and online manual pages. Procedure 1: Verifying Whether DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C Is Already Installed 1. Log in as root or become superuser. 2. Enter the following command: /usr/sbin/setld -i | grep TNCBASE 3. Note that the output from the command is as follows if DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C is already installed: TNCBASE110 installed DEC SNA TN3270C package Procedure 2: Installing DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C 1. Log in as root or become superuser. 2. Change your current working directory to the directory containing the DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C product. 3. Enter the following command: /usr/sbin/setld -l ./ Follow the directions displayed on your screen to complete the installation (see the example installation later in this document). CAUTION Installation of DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C may overwrite previously existing files, and the product may be incompatible with other related products such as the DEC SNA HLLAPI Tool Kit for OSF/1 and DEC SNA 3270 Terminal/Print Services for OSF/1. To avoid these potential problems, install DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C into a new directory. By default, DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C components are installed in directory /usr/tn3270c. If this directory already exists, a warning message is displayed with instructions on how to proceed. 4. Install the software by entering the following command: . ./Install The software is decompressed and distributed into its proper subdirectories. In addition, the COMMLINK and PATH environment variables are set. The directory you choose in step 3 is the directory to which your COMMLINK variable is set. NOTE On some systems, when executing the above command, messages may appear stating that there is no .Z file. These messages are not errors and can be ignored. Before running the product, you must make sure that the COMMLINK and PATH environment variables are set correctly for each user. Refer to the Getting Started chapter in the DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C for DIGITAL UNIX User's Guide for more information. Procedure 3: Installing the Online Manual 1. Become superuser. 2. Change to the proper directory by entering the following command: cd $COMMLINK/manpages 3. Install the Online Manual files by entering the following command: sh ./installman 4. Exit superuser by entering the following command: exit Example Installation of DIGITAL SNA TN3270-C # /usr/sbin/setld -l ./ The subsets listed below are optional: There may be more optional subsets than can be presented on a single screen. If this is the case, you can choose subsets screen by screen or all at once on the last screen.
