This document contains the release notes for Multimedia Services V3.1 for
Tru64 UNIX.

This document contains information which became available too late to be
included in the official product documentation. Please read these release
notes thoroughly before attempting to install or use MMS V3.1.

This kit will run properly on Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.1.  It has not yet been
qualified on UNIX
 5.0a.

Changes for 3.1:
========
1.  Whatis for development man pages were grouped incorrectly.
2.  Corrected GUI corruption problem under CDE for compaqsound
       options.settings window.
3.  All libraries are now compiled, instead of being brought forward
    from earlier releases.
4.  No license is required.
5.  Added makefiles for example programs.
6.  Decsound sound player has been renamed to compaqsound.


Changes for 3.0:
========
1.  All video hardware has been retired.  Only software based video is 
     now supported.
2.  A Creative Ensoniq sound card has been added.
3.  A bug in the ESS sound driver has been fixed to
     prevent dropout during playback.  A couple of seconds of dropout would
     occur at 3 minutes, and periodic intervals thereafter.
