Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: DEC SNA High Level Language API Tool Kit, SPD 62.70.00 Version 1.0 DESCRIPTION DEC SNA High Level Language API is one of a family of products includ- ing: o DEC SNA 3270 Terminal/Print Services for OSF/1[R] (SPD 62.71.xx) o DEC SNA Remote Job Entry for OSF/1 (SPD 62.72.xx) o DEC SNA APPC/LU6.2 Tool Kit for OSF/1 (SPD 62.67.xx) DEC SNA High Level Language API for OSF/1 provides a 3270 Data Stream Programming Interface (LU2) between applications running on an OSF/1 system and applications running on IBM[R] mainframe(s), via either the DEC SNA Peer Server or other DEC SNA Gateway(s) using TCP/IP or DEC- net. The High Level Language API for OSF/1 product is a library of rou- tines which are linked into OSF/1 applications. Run-time support for High Level Language API programs is bundled with the DEC SNA 3270 Ter- minal/Print Services for OSF/1. Features DEC SNA High Level Language API provides compatibility with IBM's High Level Language API (High Level Language Application Program Interface). This product supports 38 of 44 standard High Level Language API func- tions, plus 11 new functions providing extended capabilities. These functions comprise a powerful library with all the capabilities to sup- port complex applications, structured as concurrent processes, simul- taneously interacting with multiple host sessions. The functions pro- vide the following major classes of services to the High Level Lan- guage API User Program (HUP): o Session Selection and Operator Terminal Coordination DIGITAL June 1994 AE-Q6LBA-TE o Presentation Space Data Access o Host Session Status and Control o Keystroke Intercept o File Transfer o Local Session Operations o Direct Session Data Access The user's C language program is linked against the High Level Lan- guage API interface library. The user program is the main program in this High Level Language API User Program (HUP). This user process com- municates with 3270 Session Manager (SM) process which contains the basic 3270 emulation modules. The SM maintains the host sessions and presentation spaces, and controls the operator terminal when it is con- nected to the 3270 display emulation. Representative applications include: Automatic Data Entry File Distribution/Collection User-Friendly Interface/Assistant Operator Host/Local Distributed Applications Specifications Standard High Level Language API Functions Connect to Presentation Space Convert Position or Row/Column Copy Field to String Copy OIA Copy Presentation Space Copy Presentation Space to String Copy String to Field Copy String to Presentation Space Disconnect from Presentation Space Find Field Position Get Key 2 Invoke OS Program OS Redirect Pause Post Intercept Status Query Cursor Location Query Field Attributes Query Host Update Query Session Status Query Sessions Query System Receive File Release Reset System 3 Reserve Search Field Search Presentation Space Send File Send Key Set Session Parameters Set Host Notification Start Keystroke Intercept Stop Host Notification Stop Keystroke Intercept Storage Manager Wait Workstation Control Write Session Data Extended High Level Language API Functions Deactivate Session Post Program Name Post Program Status Prepare to Send Data Query Extended Sessions Status Read Session Data Send Acknowledgement Set Device Status Set Session Mode Write Session Data Max Sessions per Session Manager: 62 simultaneous sessions (single char- acter short name).
