DIGITAL Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: InfoBroker Server SPD 53.32.04 V2.2 for Digital UNIX DESCRIPTION The InfoBroker Server V2.2 for Digital UNIX[TM] product provides for the storage of information about users and resources available on the network. InfoBroker Server is used in conjunction with compatible client software. The InfoBroker Server can act either as a gateway to a standard X.500 directory or as a local workgroup directory file for storage of in- formation. When used as a workgroup directory file, the InfoBroker Server reads a text file, which contains CCITT X.500-specified information such as user name, phone number, mail addresses, building address, FAX number, and so forth. When storage requirements exceed 5000 entries, migration from the work- group directory file to an X.500 directory may be appropriate for im- proved performance and management of data. Data stored in the Info- Broker Server can be loaded into the DEC X.500 Directory Service be- cause of the common file format and schema used by the InfoBroker Server and Digital's X.500 administrative tools. The InfoBroker Server utilizes an X.500 Directory User Agent (DUA) when providing the X.500 gateway functionality. The InfoBroker Server prod- uct license includes the right to use Digital's X.500 DUA software when it is installed on the same system as the InfoBroker Server. This X.500 DUA software is available on the same distribution media as the In- foBroker Server product. Please refer to the InfoBroker Server Admin- istration Guide for the DUA installation instructions. March 1998 AV-Q5WPE-TE The InfoBroker Server consists of the following functionality group- ings: o Workgroup directory file o X.500 gateway The InfoBroker Server uses industry standard TCP/IP or DECnet[TM] trans- port protocol. The InfoBroker Server supports the Lightweight Directory Access Pro- tocol (LDAP) [1] V1 and V2 for easy integration into LDAP-compliant client and server environments. The LDAP functions which are supported are Bind, Search, Modify Attribute, ModifyRDN, Delete, Add, and Un- bind. The InfoBroker Server can be used with a web browser running on any type of client system. The InfoBroker Server can also be used with LDAP- compliant clients. The InfoBroker Server uses the Directory Access Protocol (DAP) to com- municate with an X.500 server over the industry standard protocols TCP /IP with RFC1006 or OSI. ____________________ © 1993 Regents of the University of Michigan.
