DESCRIPTION

DEC MAILworks for DEC OSF/1 is a mail system which exchanges mail
messages via multiple messaging protocols. The DEC MAILworks server
itself exchanges mails among the users of the server. It also posts  and
fetches via the TCP/Internet environment, or optionally via X.400
protocols in the OSI environment. Each message can consist of a number
of enclosures such as text, faxes, word-processor documents,
spreadsheets and images. Received messages are stored in a hierarchy of
folders for easy management. Query facility is provided for messages
retrieval.

DEC MAILworks for DEC OSF/1 uses a client/server architecture, which
separates the program for sending and interacting with messages (client)
from the facility that stores the messages themselves (server).

The client sends messages and interacts with a message store on behalf
of a user. Clients in the DEC MAILworks for DEC OSF/1 product family are
based on the OSF/Motif GUI and Microsoft Windows user interface.
DEC MAILworks/Hangul for DEC OSF/1 is the extension of standard DEC
MAILworks for DEC OSF/1 to provide a local language environment for
Korean users. It supports Korean data representation that conforms to
the Korean Industrial Standard Code for Information Interchange 
(KS C 5601-1987) of the Republic of Korea.

This Software Product Description only describes the Korean language
specific features. For details of the standard features, please refer to
Software Product Description (SPD # 45.16.XX).

· TeamLinks/Hangul users can create Korean messages with Korean
  enclosures, send and receive Korean mail messages, view Korean
  messages with Korean enclosures.

· DEC MAILworks/Hangul for DEC OSF/1 provides a Compose window for
  Motif client users to use simple editing functions such as create and
  edit local language text messages. An option to use the Korean VI
  editor for creating and editing Korean text messages is also provided.

· User can use a Browser window to view incoming Korean mail messages.

· User can send and receive Korean text messages through either TCP/IP
  or X.400 protocols.  Korean mail messages and enclosures can be
  exchanged in the same way as English messages.

· Korean error and prompt messages can be displayed on the Motif
  client.

· DEC MAILworks/Hangul Motif client supports Korean help messages of the
  on-line help function.

· Query facility is provided for retrieving Korean messages in folders.
  The searching criteria can be specified in Korean characters. Users
  can search for messages containing Korean text string in their header
  fields or enclosures.

· Korean alias can be defined as alternate name of a complex mail
  address. It can be used for sending mails in the same way as for
  English alias.

· Users can create folders with Korean names in the folder browser.
  They can be moved or deleted in the hierarchy of folders.

· User-defined command labels can be specified in Korean. The Korean
  command labels can be shown in the pull-down menu of the script
  option.



PROCESSOR SUPPORTED

All processors that are currently supported by DEC OSF/1 V2.0 or above.



PRINTER

A DEC OSF/1 supported Korean printer is required for printing DEC
MAILworks Korean Mail messages.



CLIENTS

A workstation is required for DEC MAILworks Motif client. A PC is
required if TeamLinks/Hangul is used as the DEC MAILworks client.
